Why isnt my new sim card working on my iphone 4?

i have iphone 4 locked virgin mobile (canada) & had take on contract sim done, went out buy new 1 every store said didnt have micro sim got 1 cut. im using on prepaid got set up, phone keeps saying no service. , when go carriers , turn off automatic & click networks listed (virgin , virgin 3g) says restricted !! how phone work!? ios 5.01 prepaid part ? dont want find out wasted 65$ no fu**** reason

 

have ever had virgin mobile work on iphone prior new sim card?
