Finder painfully slow

whole bunch of issues lion, wondering how common are.

-moving items between folders
moving 1 small 20kb file can take ten seconds. drag , drop, wait few seconds, "moving 1 file progress bar shows up, wait few more seconds, windows shuffle about, moves , windows move place.
tried trashing couple of files, couple more (all tiny .htm files) , i've been left last minute , half. gave , relaunched finder rid of it.


-opening image in preview
hell have done program in lion? in sl preview instant. if hasn't been opened can take 10 seconds open. have "save opened windows" or whatever it's called turned off, it's not attempting open open when closed last time.

-finder taking ages show thumbnails
opening folder or scrolling through spend far long displaying these grey boxes before showing actual thumbnail. gives? never happened in sl.


-songs in itunes skip.
song in itunes cut out fraction of second every often. it's nothing file, can go , play again , it's fine. it's harddrive can't read file fast enough. it's normal mp3.


troubleshooting: have latest high end 15" mbp. 7200rpm hard drive plenty of free space. 8gb ram.
verified , repaired disk , disk permissions. reset pram.
reindexed entire hdd in spotlight.

disk utility turned out hard drive. not sure how read can't tell if it's hard drive @ fault or not.


i'm stuck. don't know else do. i've searched around following advice other people have been given when relevant, none of it's helped.

added fact have creaky base, , cpu reaches 99ºc no provocation, , dodgy screen. i'm not impressed @ machine.

i can relate preview issue. slow on lion took @ least 10 seconds open pdf 4 pages. apple...?

basically, lion has tons of inconvenient bugs, , if can dispense icloud features (except mail, can , send icloud mail on sl), suggest switch sl.

that's did, terrible memory management (you have 8 gb of ram 2011 mb pro, 2009 mb pro half ram stutters bit - sl never did this). i'm , extremely satisfied sl.

having done upgrade , stayed lion july 2011 february 2012, can start of month (when reinstalled sl), machine feels reborn.

2 cents. lion me piece of crap , never use again, because of terrible ram management , mission control (amongst other things).
