i @ on trip offices in spain, have me old brick of dell laptop running win 7. have 6 month old macbook pro. on trip down have connected internet in various ways, dongles , wifi points , mac has been ok. wrong.
problem getting on line, have few wifi access points choose from, both machines connect wifi hotspots, no problem, dell can on line.
if both machines logging in same wifi access point; dell online , flying, macbook sits there, , returns, web page not available, website may down etc
can help, work , emails on mac, hate have work on windows pc trip.

you might want think giving post new title...the 1 have suggests comparing 2 , not looking wifi issue solution.
close hotspots? have found, @ times, mac appear connected network, if on fringes won't return webpage.
