Late 2008 MBP HD video skipping

hey,

did searching on , couldn't come looking for.

have late 2008 mbp (see signature) upgraded home theater , got 40" sony ex620. tv looks great , plays cable, ps3 games , blu-rays great.

problem when ever try play hd video mbp video tends skip or jump few frames. noticeable on slow pans (noticed while watching bbc human planet) , seems in pattern. example seems jump frames every 2 seconds or so. don't of skipping while watching else (blu-ray, ps3, cable) old 32" toshiba (720p) didn't have problem either.

can older mbp not handel higher resolution of new tv?

should mention i'm running snow leopard , i'm using "higher performance" (7200gt) setting. computer plugged in via display port hdmi.

in advance.

 

i should mention problem occurs both while watching through xbmc or vlc
