Movie Synopis

is there way, using atv 3 remote, view complete movie description on local movies? can see couple of lines seems cut off "...". so, assume there way view after "...", haven't been able figure out how.

also, have been using subler add metadata transcodes. there 2 fields, short description , long description. itunes/atv pull description appears on atv short or long description?

redsn0w not fetching iPad baseband

is else having problem? i'm trying jailbreak wife's 3gs ios 5.0 old bootrom , install ipad baseband can unlock it, redsn0w sits on 'fetching ipad baseband' long period of time before giving error message , shutting down. able basic jailbreak without problem, whole fetching ipad baseband not working. ideas? i've tried 2 different macs.

if so, try 10b5 or 10b5c
make sure have internet connection

Documenting household assets in Mac Program (for insurance purposes)

a while remembered seeing program take pictures of items in house (ie. refrigerator, washer, dryer ect.) , neatly document categories in mac photo program. can't seem find anywhere on mac desktop. purchased in 2009. please help!

not sure program you're talking (maybe bento?), there's ios app called home inventory has web interface well. ios app can upload pictures idevice attach item.

My new ipod re-sync to existing itunes library question

i have got new ipod , want re-sync itunes library onto it.

easy connecting , letting itunes thing? or have un-authorise old ipod etc before it?

want double check before don't want loose music.

you shouldn't have problems new ipod. hook , sync away. if large library more ten gigs may want set manually manage , sync a little @ time ipod doesn't freeze up. luck

so got new apple tv 3 (yay) , when set looked though airplay working itunes, when go display preferences menu see if can mirror display apple tv, option not exists. ( on 10.8) ive seen numerous videos of working , not me.. whats going on...

Sell 1st Gen iPad and pick up Kindle Fire

my ipad has been seeing less use lately have been doing of browsing on iphone since favorite sites on mobile now. have been considering selling first gen ipad , using money pick kindle fire (probably refurb) play around with. plan on getting new ipad, funds needed wont available until summer.

ive never spent time android, main purpose getting fire play around android , root cyangenmod 7 , maybe develop android app or 2 see how sdk is.

has here had experience kindle fire in comparison first gen ipad? in web browsing, find ipads lack of ram real detriment?

i use fire more 1st gen ipad web browsing (the browser feels snappier, less laggy) , general reading (higher pixel density , lighter device). beyond that, not recommend exchange.

Bootcamp won't work, Keep trying everything!!!

so i've been trying install windows 7 ultimate on macbook pro 15" 2011 running os x lion 10.7.3 , there's been no luck! every time go bootcamp assistant , try make partition windows works minute , pops saying

the disk cannot partitioned because files cannot moved.

disk , use disk utility format single mac os extended (journaled) volume. restore information disk , try using boot camp assistant again.

i've tried lot of things repairing disk, using idefrag, making own fat partition fails, , doing full restore snow leopard lion using sl disk. did loose harddrive space @ 1 point , happened delete recovery hd see if fix problem, didn't, reinstalled os x lion app store , have harddrive space , recovery hd... i'm stuck , have been trying , trying days fix this, there's no luck please help, thanks!

you tried lot, didn't said - way avoid error.

What case did you buy for new Ipad

i thought informative know case purchased new ipad, , purchase considerations.

purchased otter box defender. on first generation ipad never confident of protection various cases offered.there couple of close calls held breath ipad survived being knocked off bed or accidentally dropped.

time around made protection first consideration. looks otter box offer excellent protection function, , think pretty sharp looking case.

i'm still in indecisive stage. want smart cover, want protection back. ifrogz summit case , incipio feather case there too. i'm indecisive when comes these things..

Hmmm...Wifi or 3G/LTE?

i going purchase 3g or lte ipad before announcement, don't know. i'm purchased last 2 ipads in 3g version , wasn't looking break tradition. feel bare without it. not need connected @ times, on road trip, need it.

, don't have iphone or phone tethers. think wifi may better bet since, frankly, i've used maybe 3 times on course of last twelve months. still insurance of having there when need cannot overlooked.

guess gametime decision.

this really depends on personal situation. personally, i'm away @ school , entire campus has wireless connection ever use 3g on phone , won't ever on ipad. sure, it's nice feature have , can't go wrong getting it..but depends on how you'll use it!

What does this setting mean in the app store

it says use cellular data have checked off i'm still able purchase apps on 3g when cellular data suppose off.

i think you're talking setting allows phone auto download app. if bought on itunes or on ipad. auto download, switching 3g on allow on 3g. out on wait until has wifi signal.

Mac boots with Safari open

for reason, mac has been booting safari open (even if un-check box says log in open apps upon shutdown). whenever boots, see safari automatically open, though closed before shut down. there way fix this?

open system preferences, go system tab , click on "users & groups icon. click on "login items" tab. if applications listed there, click on small minus button @ bottom , remove them 1 one.

for new work i'll need buy notebook. weight , better display suggest buy 13"/128gb/i5 air without-office work.
doubt have virtualize windows not intensive ms project usage , need install autocad drawings check and/or quick changes.
used 90/95% ms office , e-mail , 5/10% virtualization ( suggest ed use vmware fusion).
@ home have imac that's anough video, photoshop music , intensive cad drawing.

view attachment 325815 i've sent idea off busycal along ical team, 1 of things felt cludgy ical see 1 type of calendar @ at time. i.e. have switch between seeing month or week or day, , couldn't see month , day @ same time.

result, leave in week view because gives me decent idea of going on today , rest of week.

MBP ram upgrade

hi all

planning upgrade ram in mbp (mid 2010 i7) - since lion 4gb doesn't seem enough.

memory taking out of mbp made of 2 2gb ddr3 1066mhz chips. replacing 2 4gb of similar specs (micron/hynix ddr3 1066mhz)

question have is, use these chips in imac? c2d mid 2009 imac, , has 2 ddr3 1066mhz chips, although made different manufacturer. these chips play nice or cause problems? understand speed should key factor, new macs , not sure of specifics...

mbp has ram reports manufacturer (0x802c) , imac (0x80ad) if helps.

the manufacturer of memory doesn't matter. matters type/speed of memory. have 2 different manufacturers of memory in imac no issues.

Clock always wrong with custom lockscreen

i dont know happened, few days ago realized time on ls 6 hours ahead. can fix manually changing time in settings, apps, such twitter shows 6 hours behind

Garageband recording missing?

hey y'all,

recording interview , bar kept counting beyond 2000 measures. however, when finished interview after hours , saved changes left upon reopening 59 measures.

me!!! how can recover whole file! have tried "show package contents" didn't work.

Time Machine - Why the slow transfer rates all of a sudden?

i run time machine backup every weekend external usb drive.

transfer rate @ least 40 - 50 mb or higher.

did backup today, before installing 10.7.3 update , transfer rate fluctuated 1mb 20mb. slower normal.

after installing update ran backup, , it's transfer rate around 1mb per second.

there way of finding out why it's gone slow?

i had after combo update. rebooted tc , went normal again.

Harddrive issue

most importantly laptop has failing hard drive. in disk utility tells me hard drive failing. has 80gb hard drive , upgraded ram 1.2mb few years ago

have optical drive failing

anyway around , repair ? or should throw laptop away

you can replace hdd, no need throw away.
hdd failing, important data, buy new hdd , install mac os x onto it.

macbook, macbook pro: replacing hard disk drive, transferring data new hdd
how format new hdd/ssd install mac os x or make bootable copy onto

iMac won't wake up with recent Lion install after it goes to sleep

i bought lion when came out , have consistently had problem computer going sleep should, when come wake up, won't. mouse , keyboard act being seen. can push power button on , wake up, mouse , keyboard won't work. have hard reboot working again.

went snow leopard couple of months , reinstalled lion on new ssd drive. 2 days later it's it's old ways of not waking up. never happened snow leopard installed.

don't want pay apple phone call , hoping here me out.

anyone else had problem???

tried disconnect keyboard , mouse , repair them seemed work couple of days, did again today. way use computer after happens hard reboot, i've heard can cause hard drive fail if much. why stock hard drive crashed soon.

when upgraded ios 5 did restore phone backup or set new phone?

if restored phone backup, there in causing issue. way test restoring phone , setting new phone.

they seem have removed option in lion. see tracking speed, not scrolling speed. knows???

How locked is the iPad?

can ipad 2, instance, used both att , verizon? instance, if change mind , want go other vendor.

unlike phones, locked original service (in states).

considering upgrading original ipad 3g yet unannounced ipad 3. since have unlimited data service hope move sim new ipad. verizon has lte in area, att doesn't.

of course, rumor new ipad have lte support.

at&t uses gsm , verizon cdma, no cannot swap networks. have buy ipad carrier you'd use.

XP to 7 upgrade in Bootcamp.

hi all,

setting xp in bootcamp, , wondered if can upgrade 7 same way 1 on pc? can sweet deal on w7 upgrade work, avoid buying full version.

using 2 programs in bootcamp, don't think justiy use of vm software out there, eh??

looks running snow on 2011 mac mini.

since thats hack via kext , plist files don't know answer. can tell on lion , 1 2011 server windows 7 pro worked easy on other mac mini server windows 7 home hard work , purchased vm ware.

i tried theme, (and forgot one) changed voices/sounds of iphone.
refreshing/cool hear different stuff coming iphone.

i'm star trek fan , installed tweak called star trek sounds. uses lot of sounds tng things typing, respring, etc... no voices.

there 1 called star wars sounds star wars fans.

2011 Mac Mini Server Win 7 performance issues

i have 2011 mini server base factory 4gb memory , external lg bluray burner can rip , convert blurays mkv.

using osx , makemkv, consistently rips , can play resulting mkv's using vlc (or other app plays mkv files) fine. 0 stutter during playback. same applies mkv's compress down using handbrake.

decided bootcamp copy of win 7 pro had laying around thinking should better performance when using handbrake but, i'm not. around 24fps conversion in handbrake under osx, around 19fps or lower in win 7(i tested using same base mkv under osx , win 7). also, win 7 vlc playback of mkv's extremely choppy, both video , audio.

based on i've seen other post, thought should see increased performance using bootcamped win 7 due virtulization , hyperthreading. i'd have search but, i'm sure i've seen post here op said getting upwards of 48fps conversion using win 7 handbrake. unfortunately, i'm seeing worse performance. i'm shocked @ how bad mkv play using vlc under windows.

i'm sure set , installed so.....

1. ram issue win 7? need 8gb?
2. not installed or overlooked? i'm pretty sure did correct including bootcamp win drivers.
3. can verify fps seeing using win 7 , handbrake? basic test be; bluray mkv using makemkv handbrake set to mkv output using constant rf of 20.
4. other ideas?

i'm not dissatisfied performance under osx, hoping squeeze out more performance under win 7 type of operation.

Weird file sizes in Finder

in finder, have "install xcode.app" file 1.81 gb. told finder duplicate it, , created "install xcode copy.app" file 1.57 gb. why isn't duplicate same size original?

did info on original, , said size "1,814,588,172 bytes (1.81 gb on disk)". did info on duplicate, , said size "1,570,347,315 bytes (1.81 gb on disk)". why both of them "1.81 gb on disk" number of bytes different each one?

running lion 10.7.2.

i did little more investigating. turns out .app files directories. (i'm new macs, didn't know that.)

installed deltawalker (a program lets diff on files/folders), , says "install xcode.app" directory same "install xcode copy.app" directory. both have same files , subdirectories, , of content/data within of files same.

looks duplication worked perfectly, there's bug in finder. not reporting size of "install xcode copy.app" correctly. reason thinks different size "install xcode.app", though both same.

news , bad news here, folks: news at&t begin offering new data plans higher monthly allotment. bad news that, once again, it's going cost more. plans, offer 300mb of data $20, 3gb $30 , 5gb (including mobile hotspot access) $50, take effect beginning sunday. still on 1 of older plans? fortunately, you're still grandfathered in , won't have change unless absolutely want to. remember once move new data rate, there's no going back; legacy plan sticking around at&t's 250mb tablet feature $15. change in plans appears priced same verizon, though 2 higher rate plans on at&t have advantage in hooks gigabyte of data capacity. question is, worth paying additional $5 per month gig? oh, , we're still waiting on shared data plan in meantime, ralph.

Use Airport Express for local wifi only

is possible use airport express local wifi?
can't have wireless network due restrictions stupid university accommodation want use sync iphone wirelessly , use iphone remote.

i've set every time turn computer on airport utility prompts me solve problem not connected internet , if tell ignore it still prompts me.

iphone doesn't seem want connect local wifi network continuously connects resets connection try , solve problem not got internet on wifi.

when try sync cuts out , same remote!

yes, can use airport express create wireless network, if network doesn't include internet access. make sure ae network on preferred network list. mac , iphone internet connection, can still use them without one.

How to have music videos continuous play?

i have bunch of music videos watch while on treadmill.
can play 1 @ at time. there way on ipad2 have music videos can select , have them play continuously?

yep!!

make playlist in itunes. add whatever music videos want it. go movies tab in ipad itunes screen , click sync video playlists.

on ipad open music app , go playlists. videos play in order put in without needing anything.

need make sure songs @ 0 secs otherwise start wherever playhead in playlist.

hope helps! watch movies on treadmill. greatest thing ever. 30mins flies past in blink of eye.

bought macbook pro, have since 7 days , know, before 14 days return end, if normal make noise?

i'm no computer pro, fans make constant noise when i'm browsing web. temps normal, stay around 50c , fans 2000rpm. , know normal fans make noise if compare computer had before, made noise when downloaded something, makes way lot more noise.

and, thing, netflix works 1 on 5 times when try load page. web browser or else?

Mid-2009 Unibody hard drive issue (SATA I/II)

i upgraded hard drive on mid-2009 15" macbook pro, stock 250 gb/5400rpm hitachi western digital scorpio black 750gb/7200rpm. (see original post here: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1346126)

prior new hard dive, had efi 1.7 firmware , original stock drive absolutely flawless. fast, reliable--the reason upgrade merely more space.

after installing new hard drive, initial boot took longer usual. had read normal didn't think it. once started up, however, computer super super slow. like, every click, opening of folder, typing input box, etc. caused endless beachballs , lagging. looked issue (using iphone since computer pretty useless) , found slowness expected spotlight reindexing drive. left computer running, came in few hours, , checked activity monitor confirm spotlight no longer indexing. still extremely, painfully slow. repairing permissions, resetting pram, etc. did absolutely nothing.

further research brought me issue of mid-2009 unibodys 3.0 (see: here , here). followed makeshift solution, downgrade efi 1.7 1.6 (instructions here) , thank god. computer super fast , operating normal. no more beachballs or lagging (knock on wood).

question is, issue apparently has been going on since 2009. experienced because first time upgraded hard drive. have there been new developments or destined live efi 1.6 forever? i'm afraid downgrading fix temporary solution , won't stable in long run in terms of capability hard drive mechanism.

there's been no new developments; indeed issue has been outstanding since june 2009 per this. whilst it's not beyond bounds of possibility apple might resolve this, becoming increasingly unlikely time goes on. mid-2009 machine in same situation own wound restoring stock drive, restoring firmware 1.7 , living it.

i picked invisible shield hd , applied screen of new ipad. there're no bubbles after installation , 1 small speck of dust underneath screen. i'm impressed new invisible shield hd had regular invisible shield installed on ipad 2 , rid of orange peel , feel smooth glass surface. hd protector feels more sturdy whereas the regular protector little more flimsy. overall happy invisible shield hd

Back cover and heat dissipation question

hey guys, wondering how effect cover has on normal heat dissipation on ipad? i'd 1 mine , want sure doesn't adversely affect since new ipad runs warmer previous models.

didn't have 1 on original ipad have no experience covers. know apple doesn't them , why won't find sale @ apple store.

i'm after bit of protection giving grip.

i'm looking @ incipio smart feather or belkin snap shield , similar types.

i dont think have adverse affect on heat dissipation. kept mine in zip pouch while charging overnight , didn't feel hot, warm.

iPad 1 good condition or iPad 2 cracked screen, best option?

anyone tried combination yet? there plenty of threads people have used at&t sims in vzw ipads not other way around. tempted try putting sim verizon droid bionic in att ipad, noticed sim in bionic isn't microsim.

still, using vzw sim in att ipad sounds best of both worlds: consistent vzw 4g speeds more versatile 4g radio (1700 , 2100mhz bands) in att ipad. i've got unlimited data plans on both vzw , att , intend on holding on both of them.

so yesterday while cleaning table knocked off mba. went table chair, bounced off wall , on floor.

don't see cosmetic damages , appears it's still working. turned off @ time nothing inside damaged.

should consider myself lucky or have examined.
