a lot of people, including myself, had hard time deciding whether preorder wifi ipad or 4g ipad. in end felt 4g not right me because use ipad @ home , can tether unlimited data phone if need arises.

it depends on content. if consciously streaming hd videos, yes. if you're talking images on sites, tend downloaded @ preset resolution whether using iphone, ipad (retina or not). in case, we're wasting data downloading can't appreciate.
retina display allows see images/videos are, data cost same. apps can larger, if of contents locally generated, app size won't increase much.
