Open ports for a faster download?

hello everyone,
every send family members large photo files or video files.on occasion receive them well. upload them sharing sites, (megaupload ((when up)), fileserve, etc.) since lot taken down i've tried out filepost. ive run issues when downloading it. mega , file serve work filepost slow. co worker suggested open ports(?) how being on osx lion.? or possible. 1 of family members sends me vimeo style videos creates , edits. ask filepost since tried out membership , know because frustrated me much! lol . thoughts? xbox , web browsing work fine though. :apple:

wirelessly posted (iphone 4s: mozilla/5.0 (iphone; cpu iphone os 5_0_1 mac os x) applewebkit/534.46 (khtml, gecko) version/5.1 mobile/9a405 safari/7534.48.3)

opening ports absolutely nothing increase speed. ports ways allow or deny access computer through firewall. either port open , allows traffic through or it's closed , nothing gets through.

port sharing files either 80 or 441 depending on if site using ssl/tls/https (which same thing).
