Help me choose my first Amp + Speakers

g'day everyone

need choosing sound equipment home setup.

have:

samsung ua40d5000 led tv - handles picture needs
http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/...dex.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&tab=specification

apple tv generation 2 - use watch tv shows, movies , listen music etc
http://www.apple.com/au/appletv/specs.html

sony ps3 - use gaming , playing occasional dvd
http://au.playstation.com/ps3system/

i'm looking way improve sound output of these devices. connect tv, assume receiver waste of money. correct me if i'm wrong.

assume need amplifier , pair of bookshelf speakers. able control speaker volume using existing tv remote, settle additional remote if required. amp have good/affordable not have remote.

i've been looking valve/tube amplifiers, i'm interested in possibly getting 1 if can afford it.

have powered rokit 5 monitor krk enjoy sound from.
thinking of buying pair of 6" passive monitors system:
http://www.krksys.com/krk-studio-monitor-speakers/r6.html
aesthetics of these speakers.
these $450 on ebay leave me $150-$250 max amp.

brief system going dramatically increase sound quality system.
budget around $500 mark +/- $200
speakers should have black casing, i'm not fake woodgrain. hardwood fine stain it.
amp should quality, capable of handling 2 bookshelf speakers, if has option of powering sub it's bonus don't think matters.
must available purchase in australia. i'm in melbourne. happy buy on internet.
more willing buy second hand via ebay etc.

questions ask.

cheers

dave
