simple point-and-shoot camcorder as backup

hey guys!

thinking getting second camcorder. own minidv ones, outdated.

new camcorder supposed rather cheap, not have problems go skiing or take on rough rides. should produce image can cut second camera angle without looking different (so no gopro hero or stuff that).

main camera canon hf-s10, i'm thinking going canon again maybe make multicam edit easier. little scared different brand might have lot of color correction , contrast make 2 camcorders match in looks.

have experience multicam different cams? have recommendations cheap hd camcorder? or opinions on take closer @ or take account? has had experience "canon legria hf r26"? (i think "legria" name part europe-specific, i've heard "vixia" in before...)

idea of price tag 300 euros (about 400$), @ low end.

in case ever stumbles across thread again: went , got canon hf r26. 2 cents on it:

pros:
+ know handling well, since know canon (this me...)
+ image quality not bad, in mediocre lighting. little sharper, colours fine.
+ has 2 sd card slots , 8gb built-in memory, lots of space
+ onboard mic pretty usable holiday shoots , such
+ lcd screen big , surprisingly sharp
+ there manual adjustments possible
+ records in 1080p @ 25 fps (for europe), standalone in price class

cons:
- battery placed within camera , not alow bigger one.
- auto white balance in lowlight situations is... well... buggy...
- there no option external mic, neither shoe nor plug (but that's okay me, since record seperately anyways)
- (digital) image stabilizer goes far in zoomed in situations. no handhelds @ longer focal length!
- not suited low light performance or advanced manual settings. no 1 expects @ price.

did not try packaged software. of cons not dealbreaker me, considering using cam for. biggest downer non-upgradable battery. last 70 minutes (100 lcd closed), long recordings on tripod etc., have plug in wall. without outlet, camcorder record movies of 1 hour length before have change battery. , there no way around it.

if okay that, can recommend camcorder , myself keep backup.
