hi guys , gals,
wrote popular tutorial sometime ago regarding upgrading 2009 imacs ssd drives, in tutorial theorised upgrading primary drive possible if drive same family used (to enable proper thermal control i.e no silly fan speeds!). fast forward today , have decided modify 2011 21.5 imac, have installed 3.5" seagate barracuda 2tb drive in place of stock 500gb model. here exciting part.....
have no accelerated hard drive fan, have no system issues, can read s.m.a.r.t info drive , have comfortable temperature readings.
confusing part....
have installed ssd along optical drive , upgraded primary drive (now 2tb). question knowledge on matter this:
possible firmware on seagate barracuda 2tb 5600rpm drive compatible temperature detection utilised on 2011 imac sata cable?
fluke? please request screenshots more info further research of community in 3 years time(ish) (some users may wish replace failed drives/upgrade out of warranty)
if can establish happening here firmware or connector on drive can provide viable upgrade/replacement path every user.

ps: on forum, i've heard many times same thing replacing stock hdd vertex 3 ssd drive. it's strange, people did says works.
