Wireless keyboard - volume keys do not work

hey,

cant seem volume shortcuts work on wireless keyboard. have tried reset them in system prefs not allow this. have checked around online , seems lot of people having trouble. there solution ?

is following checked or unchecked?

system preferences > keyboard > keyboard > use f1, f2, etc. keys standard function keys
