HELP with gradient in Logo

hey guys,
freshman in highschool, , hired make logo in illustrator. have skeleton of logo completed, not sure how go coloring of it. logo involves 2 guitars, both of need gradient, 1 acoustic (wood grain) , second glossy color, (red, blue, or 2 tone). if 1 here has , advice give on how make gradient, or has 1 have made use, appreciated.
