Will 720p video really look better on the new iPad ?

hey all,

don't have ipad, thinking getting 1 surf internet, show photos , watch videos.

watch lot of 720p sports video, , wondering if i'd gain watching them on ipad 3 rather on ipad 2 since native resolution of video lower screen resolution of ipad in both cases.

new screen , processor upgrade add ? understanding ipad 3 great gaming on device, not 1 of use.
