Wi-fi issues in clamshell mode

i use late 2011 mba 13" external monitor in clamshell mode. unfortunately in last week or (possibly since updated 10.7.3) wi-fi performance drastically weakened when lid closed. open speed improves greatly. below average speeds i've found:

lid closed: ~0.2-1.5 mbps
lid open: ~8-20 mbps

it's not huge inconvenience leave screen open, bug me bit because keep lid down. has else experienced similar issues? i'm hoping it's not hardware problem air...

well...is not pity anyway keep screen closed can use dual screen system??
