MBP Clamshell Mode: External monitor has red "fuzz"

i put mid-2009 mbp clamshell mode first time , there red fuzziness on screen won't go away no matter setting choose.

know how eliminate that?

it's monitor bought defective, or there's wrong cord, or 1 or both connection ports. or of happening..
