mid 2011 iMac + an external LCD

yo, while ago looking using imac display blu ray or xbox, discovering thunderbolt doesn't accept input hdmi / accepts input thunderbolt source.

i'd buy lcd dual-screening. since apple thunderbolt display prices ridiculously @ 1 grand, know if can connect vga or dvi lcd imac thunderbolt port using mini-display vga/dvi cable?

technically, thunderbolt port, here, used output only.. see problems still?

any mdp->vga/dvi/etc adapter should work fine.

i've got 18" crt hooked imac via mdp->vga adapter , haven't had problems.
