i bought ipad on launch day; walked 1 stockton street time in afternoon , picked shiny new black 16gb wifi new ipad. (i still have no idea why people waited in line overnight...i didn't have wait in line play demo unit)
anyway, ipad works great (except known safari bugs far). however, "serious hobbyist" photographer or whatever want call it, accurate color balance important me. had been hearing yellow screens, 1 of first things did compare ipad versus nec ips lcd editing; immediately, noticed rosy, red tint across whole screen.
okay, here's why made thread: rosy red screen did not bother me until yesterday due subtlety. if put 2 screens side side, difference obvious; however, if monitor ever looked @ in entire life, you'd it's fine. plus, read yellow-tint threads , mine way more pleasant at.
here's issue: friend showed last night new ipad (also black wifi 16gb). well, screen looks brilliant!! whites have no hint of blue, yellow, or red, white! else on our screens seems identical (brightness, sharpeness, contrast). kind of shocked @ how nicer looked---as started using noticed screen different.
don't photo-editing or on ipad; technically don't need accurate colors. again, never needed ipad in first place, if have one, want right!
macrumors...help me off fence. keep beloved, working fine, many apps installed, red-tinted ipad? or should accept best , return better one? of course time, i'd open in store...
there brilliant, perfect screens out there found out last night. returned yellow, gray, red splotchy screened ipad. can't spend amount of money inferior product. it's can live however.
