Macbook Pro with DELL 2209WA - won't talk anymore?

hello,

have peculiar problem setup, used work till friday morning.

own mbp mid 2010 , using attached monitor - dell 2209wa - via mini display port -> dvi connector. worked fine on year. friend of mine came ps3 - wanted test if monitor can handle via hdmi->dvi connector , did. problem is, macbook wont work dell if got mad or something.

have checked , confirmed working follows:
a)
- connecting macbook other display via mdp->dvi
- connecting other macbook other display via mdp->dvi
=> mdp works, mdp->dvi connector works
b)
- connecting monitor other cpu(pc) via mine dvi cable
- connecting monitor other cpu(pc) via vga cable
- connecting ps3 via hdmi->dvi cable
=> monitor working

i've tried changing resolutions on monitor (under pc), resetting defaults , nothing helps. when try connect mbp dell looks it's probing (blue screen , back) stops , monitor goes sleep. never available under display menu after detecting displays.
what's more, i've tried connecting gf's mbp (mid 2011) , doesn't work either. else can debug , solve problem?

 

i had same issue , hp display after switching between different displays. turns out auto scanning determine input device wasn't working correctly. ended powering down monitor , manually selecting input. since has been working correctly. try messing input on monitor, if possible on yours, not.
