hey all,
have mid-2010 13" macbook pro. heavy audio editing (podcasts media company) medium photo editing photoshop. each podcast can last hour , half, can imagine frustration speed i'm getting on wimpy c2d. plus, it's computer. if fails , have send in repairs, i'm effed.
have $2500 limit on i'd spend on next mac. i've looked @ entire line of i7 imacs, , base 15" macbook pro antiglare coating (just know price i'm looking at). regardless of machine pick, upgrading ram @ least 8gb owc.
21.5" imac 2.8ghz i7, 256gb ssd, , 4gb of ram $2,199.00, while base model 15" macbook pro nothing upgraded besides antiglare screen $1,949.00. assumption ssd give me better performance overall (including encoding times?) , mbp end being cheaper ram , ssd upgrade, right? if waited ssd prices go down since component user-upgradeable.
so, price, give me better performance? want machine fast possible price pay.
it comes to mobility. pick macbook pro situation. upgrade ssd myself. pick faster ssd laptop apple's standard. however, if think need more power go imac cause more powerful. if wanted go crazy build hackintosh i7 2600k, gtx 570, 256gb corsair force gt, 27" monitor less money. hope helps.
