iPad viable option as note taking device?

i'm starting law school in fall, own mbp 15in, considering buying ipad. ride bike class , weight of th mbp @ side uncomfortable.

wondering if uses ipad note taking device, , if there accessories improve process (dock/keyboard etc..)

 

you wont see in graduate school using ipad take notes. in pharmacy school, 'required' have laptop. need multi-task , cannot done on ipad.
