Tethering your new iPad

long time lurker, first time poster.

pre-ordered first ipad yesterday many others. excited see retina display in person. think iphone display nice, screen small tastes make "game changer" compared other similar devices. ipad screen, on other hand, may that. think calling iteration disappointment woefully misled. let me explain. when consider purchase, ask myself: how long until device out of date? in context of ipad, how long before retina display out of date (or, how long until tech company makes screens *better* retina display)? think answer @ least 2 years, longer. maybe others have more insight this. therefore, you're pretty "future-proofed" while if new ipad. that. redesign nice, screen important factor, in opinion.

ordered white 16gb wifi version because unwilling pay capped monthly data. own droid 4g phone unlimited data through verizon.

question concerns tethering. i've seen youtube videos on how tether android phone ipad, i'm of novice feel comfortable doing it. require me rooting phone? i'd prefer not that, seems complicated , risky. tethering should easy in estimation. feel should able blazing fast 4g speeds wifi ipad 3 anywhere have phone, everywhere!

thoughts appreciated.
