Can I install my old drive in my new Mac Pro

i'm moving dual core mbp hexacore 3.33 mac pro (apropos nothing: going install 2 x25-es , 32gb ram - expect will... umm fly ).

can install mbp boot drive in mac pro (as boot drive)? mbp drive based upon original os came pre-installed. understand it, when case, os not work on different hardware - example, know can use recovery disk on computer came - or mistaken?

ask because running little wiki server (lion server), , cannot find decent answer how migrate it.

 

if have latest 10.6.8 or 10.7.x version installed on mbp, have drivers 2010/11 mac pro, can use boot drive. put mbp target disk mode , clone mbp's hdd onto mp's hdd via carboncopycloner.
