GV extension and voicemail

im trying figure out how gv extension works voicemail. understand dialer integrates native phone app, happens when leaves voicemail on gv number? record on native app well? voicemail still accessible on web? or need keep gv app on phone anyhow?

thank in advance. cant seem find clear answer anywhere.

 

i got voicemail today , did not integrate native voicemail app... came through gv app itself. nice if integrate dialer though
