Why mac pro 1,1 can't run with Harpertown cpu?

because apple efi doesn't have cpu microcode or
hardware doesn't support?

 

the 5000x chipset should support 54xx series of xeons, question of efi/firmware. there have been quite threads topic - far no success stories afaik.

preview of 10.8 mountain lion , official cease of support first-gen mp's there may renewed interest in firmware mods - maybe harpertown support added inofficial modification (see e.g. cpuid speculation in post #147 over @ netkas).

question whether it'd worth it, advantages seem comparably small (quick google search - no idea regarding credibility).
