Install pages on JB iOS 5.0.1


i did quick search , couldn't find relevant this.

when try install pages app store "this app requires ios 5.1".

there cydia tweak work around this?

thing can think of "pirate" 1 of previous versions of app compatible(or maybe pirate latest version, perhaps 5.1 requirement artificial)?

absolutely hate not buying apps it's easier them on ios devices, update them in future , on buying them, if piracy option pages that's i'll because need it, it's not worth losing jb over.

don't want buy of alternate word processors on app store - want apple stuff.

edit systemversion.plist file via ifile show ios 5.1 installed. install app store after that, should work fine.
file located in “/system/library/coreservices/” folder.

[New iPad] Choiix Smartcover / Folio type case - Pics and frist impressions


so today walked local retailer browsing cables , case caught eye. clerk told me ipad 2 case try , see if worked on new ipad, , did.

can see on pictures it's exact copy of smart cover (material feels bit nicer, colorful part @ least) it's connected hardshell plastic back. material wraps around giving me impression it's connected plastic. it's thin , seems offer decent protection, without covering bezel @ all.

magnets work , stands, has exact 4 folds real smart cover has. cutouts nice , accesible, mic 'cutting close' (but still usable, tested it).

i'm not crazy white plastic, it's fine. has edges similar in sharpness bare ipad has.

iMac Gaming Performance Greatly Improved Over 2010


so owned mid 2010 imac basemodel , broke 3 times ended getting mid 2011 replacement. game, , before go saying why game on mac!?, because got imac because wanted mac, , felt better in long run building pc, , boy right, sorta, mid 2010 horrible @ gaming, here tell apple has proved fanboy's wrong macs not being able game, mid 2011 imac personal experience, 75% better mid 2010 (last generation) imac in everything!

here benchmark scores , fps getting in couple games/programs. keep in mind im running windows 7 home premium sp1 bootcamp 3.3 (i need update 4.0), , catalyst 12.2 uncertified drivers mbp 6750m ultimate overclock.

windows 7 assessment score:

mid 2011 imac: 5.9 (hdd limited this)
mid 2010 imac: 5.7 (gpu/hdd limited)

battlefield 3:

mid 2011 imac: 50+ fps (medium/high settings 720p)

not should use imac primary gaming rig anyway 27'' has better graphics card options more vram standard , option go 2gb, , core i7 option. absolutely destroys low end base model 21.5 inch, , can run 21.5 @ 720p or 1080p or number of other resolutions can 27'' don't see statement coming lol.

Landscape View


the following method has caused problem cannot fix. splash screen status bar landscape (returns portrait @ rootviewcontroller).

have tried 'initial view portrait' property in plist, no avail.

please help, i'm having nightmare. bug?

Genuine Smart Cover and Amazon


as title states, there genuine smart covers on amazon? have amazon credit since bought amazon local deal other day ($10 credit $5) , use it.

i'm having hard time deciphering genuine , counterfeit. there reviews going both ways same smart covers.

i agree looking smart covers too, , decided on one, read 1 of suppliers (a $30 seller prime shipping (ie. fulfilled amazon) sent out fake ones! damn.

tried looking apple g.c.'s didn't work out, i'm going folio, it's $25, have $30 in g.c.'s so... :) [the downside sleep/on/off isn't working, don't think it's huge deal. i'm sure can remedy few experiments (i don't want cut open folio case , flip magnet).

What am I missing: Trying to watch iTunes movie on wifi-only iPad w/o wifi connection


ok, first ipad. downloaded movie on itunes ipad. movie shows under "videos" app , plays fine @ home. took ipad work yesterday watch during lunch , wouldn't play (no wifi). test, turned on airplane mode , tried watching video. same issue. why though downloaded movie using ipad , shows on video list, can't play if have no wifi connection? music seems play fine. i'm cornfused.

i use mac app store every once , while , find worthwhile. however, of time spent wading through sea of apps poorly designed or have little functionality.

finding want difficult. there not many subcategories sift through; apps seem bunched in large, general categories.

1 feels this? feel same way ibookstore , lesser extent, ios app store.
 

one man's trash another's treasure. think app store use advanced search options, oh well.

Messaging not syncing with iPhone


when message iphone example ipad, not show on iphone , vice versa. there's work around this.
 

make sure have caller id on iphone set email , not phone number. what's happening people texting on phone number, in experience doesn't work ipad/iphone. bit of mess imo. had delete thread on girlfriends phone cell number, because kept replying in thread instead of 1 email. that's cleared syncs mac/ipad/iphone.

How to edit autocorrect dictionary


ok, have iphone 4 ios 5.1 - restored factory , dictionary reset... , still autocorrects "if" "of" (and vice versa), "so" <--> "do".

can please tell me file on iphone causing happen? want modify it. have ifile installed , ready go, having trouble determining in order fix it. 90% of time when autocorrects words, incorrectly.

can't believe such simple bug still isn't fixed, latest ios release.
 

why not reset keyboard's dictionary?

see only new messages in Mail on iPhone


i've had iphone since beginning , far know, there still no way see new, unread emails in mail. notification center helping little, long don't have many new emails (but tons of spam doesn't help). why can't there folder in mail contains unread messages? can in mail program on macbook pro - can create smart folder looks unread emails. once read it, drops out of view. exist ios5/iphone/ipad? seems basic email - don't understand why don't have feature.
 

i'm going second this, it's drives me mad. please apple- create solve it!

Could 720p movies show much improvement?


i realize better left asked on friday, i've been wondering throughout week , thought i'd go ahead , post it.

know screen supposed have bit better saturation, helpful picture. higher pixel density films fit evenly on ipad 2 screen? i'm hoping difference noticeable enough. not lot of movies going 1080p on ipad - @ least not immediately.

i'm not getting new ipad month or (don't hold me on waiting long, actually), won't have compare against ipad 2 little while.

thoughts? wish friday have more solid answer conjecture.

How early do you need to be in line to get one from the Apple store?


i off work @ 6 friday morning, , nearest apple store hour , 45 minutes away. wouldn't there till around opening. think late? drive 45 minutes , stand in line @ best buy, last year didn't have model wanted, had settle different one.

should've upgraded USB charger, with 42.5Wh battery it'll take ages to recharge


... it's 70% more battery - expect 2 times longer recharge

, imagine how long take if charge usb port of mac/pc :(

when i'm @ friend's house trying recharge ipad old pc adds 20% overnight :eek:
 

the thing can ipad charge faster bump amperage, needs stay 5v remain within usb spec.

reason ipad takes long charge on old pc ... because you're charging on old pc. usb ports on older pcs tended have low amperage, that's same reason many bus-powered portable hard drives won't work on old computer usb port.

Old OS10.2.8


hello, have g4 os10.2.8. update system software, know of programs on no longer work, i'd external hard drive. there way it? new hard drives need os10.5 don't know how able that. main concern 9000 photos have in iphoto. i'd put them on hard drive hook our tv , see photos in slideshow.
help.
 

i'm not aware of hard drive requires os 10.5.

didn't model g4 was, i'd guess ide hard drive (they're called pata drives now).

know of older macs have hard time "big" hard drives (bigger 120 gb) upgrade choices limited, have options.

depending on specs (cpu speed , ram) can go 10.5.

files up, can use firewire or usb hard drives.
plug in external drive big enough , can copy iphoto library it.

why of programs on no longer work?
referring classic applications? can work on 10.4.

Regret not getting LTE?


ordered wifi "the new ipad" (i love saying that) , wondering if should swap lte when it. tether 4s when on public transportation , other non-wifi areas. office has terrible 3g because of height of building , many sites blocked on company pc forces me stare @ phone , watch loading bar creep along.

have content drawn in view. trying draw line on touchesmoved. problem when draws using drawrect method, erases entire content, how can save previous context , draw line ?

new job...new iMac?


the title little misleading...i'm not getting "new" one, i'm getting first one. thing is, got accepted trainee video editor in production company. they're using adobe premier cs 5 , cs 3 on win 7. i've been thinking of getting pc, i've read macs media.

bit of online tutoring so, skype , chrome (i'm willing try out safari) i'll doing these things:

1. video editing (using adobe cs3 and/or cs5)
2. skype
3. chrome/safari (a lot of tabs...and mean 30+)
4. media playing (movies , music)
5. documents (word/excel/powerpoint)

i'm thinking of getting imac, i'm @ desk of time. (i'm home based btw) 1 should get? , should set dual boot or parallel?
 

i'd check , see if getting mac means buying own cs licenses opposed using company's windows license first.

Mid 2010 15" MBP acting up again


hi all,

had logic board in 15-inch mid 2010 mbp (macbookpro6,2) replaced few months ago under ts4088 due screen going black , graphics freezing , assured apple new logic board of newer revision did not have same issues... well, since upgrading os x 10.7.3 i've found can't leave machine more day without video going berserk... , weird thing can screenshot output , save hard disk unit isn't frozen when happens become unusable , have hard power off.

i've tried calling apple want $1,200 new logic board though had board put in @ end of december @ genius bar... mid 2010 15" models cursed or what? ideas can work around or screwed? has got worst experience macbook pro i've had yet...

iOS 5 on iPad 1 (and 3GS)


ok... think i'm totally out of luck, doesn't hurt ask. ipad 1 has been dog slow since "upgraded" ios 5. i've done updates, nothing helps. i've turned off icloud , location services; close apps can remember to; , thing still lags when doing simple tasks web browsing or typing memo.

ipad free - provided me technology teacher school; needless say, have no desire buy ipad (even ipad 3) when have functional ipad free ;). know without shsh blobs, i'm out of luck in terms of downgrading 4.3.x. there tweaks make 5.0.1 more bearable?

also, got freebie 3gs use wife's straighttalk account (they allow own phone!). had 3.1.2 (never upgraded 4); decided slower phone more features more useful 1 without, upgraded 5.0.1. same thoughts ipad above, though seem quite bit faster ipad. :)
 

i have used ipad 1 on ios 5 , never noticed being slower ipad 2. have tried restoring , setting new?

Apple mail changes my email address


i finding email people snd responses on other email addresses don't want them on. if responding email in 1 account shouldn't default account? know if started new email need select.
 

apple mail can uncooperative. examine field when send apple computer or device. argued genius in apple store months , found concerns fell on deaf ears. @ time, used gmail "aggregate" half dozen email addresses. found when replied, "from" address not identity received email, gmail account happened using check email. have had go through gymnastics scrub gmail address (which never intended give out) correspondance root cause of trouble i'm having apple's stubborn insistence can't "reply as" identity choose use.

it's less severe on osx on ios still takes steps make sure replying think replying as.

in mail.app, sure pick default email use when send email. , yes if set mail.app check 3 or 4 accounts, if have default outbound email account, mail.app should default replying account using when reply. knowing mail.app defaults replying "correct" account , after setting default outgoing email, have pause , @ field before hit send every time.

contrast, google apps allows send , receive own domain using gmail. i've started porting email google apps grow tired of inflexibility of icloud , demand absolute control on identity when send email.

WiFi sleep issues fixed


mid 2011 imac 21.5 - after updating 10.7.3 in january wifi issues became constant. downloaded new wifi update , viola..... seems fixed after 4-6 weeks of curmudgeonry.
 

i've got no idea "fixed", after istalling update wifi became practically unusable. earlier drop connection after 5 minutes, after 5 seconds...

system speed is slowing down after installing apps


what reason system speed slowing down when install more applications? example, when make fresh installation of os (leopard on g5) safari fast not in browsing in opening etc. begin install adobe cs2 or major system software update, 110 fonts. after system speed degraded... why? can make go speed before these installations?
 

do have enough free hdd capacity , ram?

Downgrading

upgraded mac os x mountain lion. not start, stays @ loading screen apple logo. can use recovery mode, , there option reinstalling, unable that. there way can downgrade lion recovery mode?

edit: not have backup. yes, idiot not backing up, don't have external hd so.
 

according mountain lion board, ml apparently puts new firmware on hdd, , makes pretty hard downgrade. that's quick read through of ml board though.

short of pulling drive, reinstalling on new one, , migrating data over, can't think of way fix that.

i use siri activate timers. although have custom ringtones other sounds siri defaults marimba tone.
there way changing 1 can select?
 

on ios 5 can select custom alarm tone clock application when u setup alarm. if defaults marimba can ssh or program iexplorer copy on marimba.caf file new 1 , rename it..lol

A few questions about installing an SSD


so purchased macbook pro 13" 750gb 5400 rpm hard drive. love computer, hard drive loud! it's spinning , whirring noise makes noticeable in quiet environments , think aluminum casing resonates more.

should've ordered mbp ssd apple, did not realize hdd noise bother me much.

seems many people recommend crucial m4 ssd. it's got overall reviews on newegg, too.

question is: have programs on hard drive installed (my main concern microsoft office) use product keys , i'm worried if install new ssd, msoffice useless. or other apps matter - there way transfer data current hdd new ssd if decide one?

also, how install osx lion on ssd? mbp did not come kind of install key.

How good is a MacBook Air?


how macbook air 11 inches me? practicle write well? maybe if write essays on trips often? work pictures.
 

i've had mine couple of weeks , i'm absolutely loving it. travel around lot, size right. it's perfect writing essays/letters/whatever else need write. i've not done lot photos yet, other organising pics in iphoto, seems handle ease.

i heard own private sources today, , several of them suggested next generation of apple's notebooks won't have trackpad.

there motion sensors on around screen, , user point @ screen. move hand/finger around move pointer.

how click?
 

while not novel idea (see natal / kinect), using computer put lot more stress on arms using mouse or trackpad. whoever so-called private source is, s/he may full of censored excrement.

while had last computer, had bought lion os. know lion os isn't compatible computer so... there anyway can install snow leopard without having purchase again? don't want have pay $29 it.

Why is "spaces" on Lion so stupid??????


perhaps i'm doing wrong, if open new space in lion, how can open new window in safari or terminal, if have prior window open in different space, without having spaces automatically shift other screen? precise, suppose open safari window in space #1, , shift space #2. how open new safari window, without having lion automatically move screen space #1?
 

technically can't anything, regretfully. write apple frustrations, , they'll things right in mac os x 10.8.
