my mom bought i3 gateway 2 years ago, biggest pos ever. build quality cheap, keyboard falling apart, plastic has cracked (never dropped).
anyways, @ work uses mac. loves os , wants replace gateway of mac. found @ cowboom. specs seem upgraded , price below average on ebay (paid 470 otd).
pictures proved fine.
understand apple markup well, know could've gotten i5 or i7 windows based pc mom wanted 15" mac , price range around 500. didn't want cheap plastic model crap again. plus using web browsing , music.

guys think? dad has 17" model , hasn't had issues far, felt model going last couple years until gets enough saved new 15" model. if end liking purchase, sell gateway around 250 , "upgrade" would've cost around 250.
