Couchpotato: cannot save my settings


hello guys,

i've downloaded couch potato , i'm thrilled start using it, impossible me save settings. when press save button following message:

error 500 internal server error
unexpected has happened.

unexpected is... can fix this? problem occurred more people?

appreciate help!

edit: maybe important additional information: when try start couchpotato message 'the application couchpotato can't opened. -1712', when type in 'http://localhost5000' in safari redirects me 'http://localhost:5000/movie/' , couchpotato launch... don't it! :eek:

Beachball, ram and page-outs...


hi all,
quick question.
purchased 2011 13" mbp i5. upped 8gb ram.

still fair amount of beach-balls, today.

apps open (*-being actively used);
finder
outlook*
safari*
chrome
firefox aurora
excel
word
little snapper
preview
nzb vortex* - uncompressing nzb file, 7gb.

had in activity monitor because l getting few beach balls see if l getting page outs far 17.4mb , counting (18.2+)....

ms office apps notorious ram hogs. page outs cumulative since last restart, best way check restart computer , track page outs under normal workload (the apps, browser pages , documents have open). if page outs significant (say 1gb or more) under normal use, may benefit more ram. if page outs 0 or low during normal use, won't see performance improvement adding ram.

mac os x: reading system memory usage in activity monitor

also, launch activity monitor , change "my processes" @ top "all processes", click on cpu column heading once or twice, arrow points downward (highest values on top). also, click on system memory tab @ bottom. take screen shot, scroll down see rest of list, take screen shot , post them.

Windows 7 made my MacBook Pro 10x times faster


ok, me person bit..ch!ng 24/7 how slow mac is.

beach ball every 20 seconds, in safari, mail, setting on , forth
20-30 seconds enter standby , on decade turn on

anyway, yesterday installed windows via bootcamp play games , test out intel hd 3000 performance. guess what? mac hasn't been more snappier!!

under 1 seconds stand by
app open in under 2-3 seconds

wtttff??? isn't supposed normal, on mac.


though hdd problem, os actually.


(note) have 20/270gb free space on mac os , 3/30gb free space on windows 7.
 

you should fresh re-install of osx see if faster. also, may ram issues osx. don't know how memory win 7 takes opposed lion.

Lion Privileges Problem


hello, have been looking @ various forums solution problem, none of seems work. therefore have created forum in hope know solution problem.

have problem on macbook pro lion , saving/deleting files. first of noticed when tried put file in trash, asked me password. asks me password when deleting file documents, desktop, pictures, music etc.

there strange details problem though. first of all, created textwrangler document , saved in documents. saved fine , able move trash without asking password. however, if edit textwrangler document created before problem , try save it, message saying "this operation couldn't completed, because error occurred" , "you not have sufficient privileges perform operation (macos error code: -5000)". though application not apple one, think under same problem.

here have done try , fix it. started changing "sharing & permissions" home folder, read , write set "apply enclosed items". tried disk utility on macintosh hd, repair disk permissions. did not work, verify disk permissions , verify disk tried. restarted pc , ran command + r menu, "resetpassword" typed in terminal. chose username , hard drive, clicked on reset home directory permissions , acls button, again on restart problem stayed.

have created new user account attempt fix it. account part success, part failure. example, if created new file , put in trash, not ask password. however, transferred files new user account old users shared folder, have dragged files in documents folder whenever deleting 1 still asks password :(

how fix this!? thing can think of reapply priveleges in new user account, maybe there way delete properties on files resets privileges?? don't know how possible.

1 other thing may help. use parallels desktop 7. other day trying save file using windows 7 virtual machine, failed due privileges guess part of same problem. this, safari has not been saving history or bookmarks add - although different, might same problem. however, on new account safari saves bookmarks , history fine.

 

i wondering if knows solution without reinstalling whole operating system. maybe has suggestion missed while completing steps above?

Mail app so slow in sync with GMAIL using IMAP ?


hello !

use mail 5.2 , lion 10.7.3 sync gmail account mail, using imap.
works fine, download rate surprisingly slow : 30kb/sec 150kb/sec, although never download under 800kb/sec...

there problem somewhere ?

how many folders , how data syncing? if have set sync takes longer negotiate delta changes , decide folders , data need updating.

when got ipad 3 (verizon) set verizon 4g account, , got rolling. however, ipad defected on me, , gave me few dead pixels, , i'm planning on returning , getting new one. so, quick question. can pop out verizon sim , stick new one? if not, how go it?

Replacing my iPad, suggestions?


my ipad has issue , i'm going replaced today.

haven't gone crazy on inspecting current ipad defects except know doesn't have weird tint , has no dead pixels. since replacing it, figure should spend time check on new one.

need when comes screen issues replacement today? thanks!
 

1. yellow tint
2. dead pixels/dust under screen
3. light bleeds under glass/digitizer (black frame)
4. physical defects (scratches, nicks, etc.)

i'd big four. else, you'd have spend time notice serious errors (battery issues, heat problems, etc.)


give quick once over, , don't stress on much.

AT&T throttled me, but....


so got throttled month 5 7 days left go. throttled enough speed still stream netflix. picture quality isn't perfect there no lag , sound still good. able stream gig worth of data yesterday. shooting 10 gigs end of billing cycle.

so, guys have been throttled, have found phone more usable previous throttles?
 

so gonna see how can use throttled? if have wifi why not use that? why waste data if don't need it? takes away else!!

iMessage flakiness: message not appearing


for last 2 days i've noticed when in imessage conversation, when new message comes in, there alert buzz doesn't show on conversation screen. going main message screen, new message shows up. not working week ago. else noticed this?
 

try hard reset - fixes lot of weirdness, when unusual shows suddenly...

press/hole power , home buttons @ same time until white apple shows (ignore else may show on screen), let go.

see if helps. if not, suspicious of added apps. not play nice ios and/or other apps. delete added apps 1 @ time , see if problem goes away.

Replacing the cam button on lock screen


if want use camera + default camera, there way use instead of going cam app when unlock.

no jailbreak...

 

i don't think so. when using camera app, camera roll not viewable, photos taken during current session launched lock screen. doubt third party camera apps have kind of feature asking gaping hole in phone security apple not grant given need make iphone palatable corporate users rely on absolute integrity of phone lock screen.

in desperate need of unlocking at&t iphone 4s. moving bahrain , want able use on there sim card. reputable site found http://www.jailbreakunlock.org/public/unlock-iphone-4s-now-available/...
says have have sim card plus , there 3 different payment options depending on 1 think need.

How to find about apps before they get the axe?


seriously, how did of found , snatched apps handy light , tether?

time news broke, gone... haven't been able of them. tough luck huh?

there forum types of apps? don't have , won't jailbreak iphone.

neither discussion "well use att's hotspot option" have unlimited data plan since days , ridiculous don't allow tethering plan that. have downgrade tiered plan. understand believe people abuse it.

need occasional "on run, need wifi few minutes" kind of thing.

iMac on vacation


so wife , went on our annual three-day weekend get-away , wanted able watch movies @ night without relying on in-room cable , pay-per-view. solution: imac!! nice having main machine in room , transporting it/set-up not issue being all-in-one. totally again. imac owners, don't bashful taking machine out of house. yes it's large, far more manageable pc desktop.

best part looks , smiles of passersby brought our room. , yes, grape puck mouse. didn't feel need bring wireless keyboard , magic trackpad.
 

why bother? have better things wife on three-day getaway don't need computer... :confused: #lame

Multiple organs transplant between Mac Mini and Macbook Pro


hello all,

have been using 3 years macbook pro (mbp) 2009 core 2 duo 2.66, coding. last summer, did improvements on it: 8 gb ddr1066 ram, sdd in optibay.

have bought refurbished mac mini (mid 2011, 2.5 ghz , 4 gb ddr1333 ram) plan use main computer, mbp mountain lion sidekick. want transfer ssd + 8 gb ram mbp mac mini , 4 gb ram mac mini mbp.

not particularly worried ssd: have check ifixit , excellent thread in forum, , waiting sata cable. however, have 2 questions ram:
- understand can put ddr1066 ram in mac mini, lower performance compare ddr1333 ram noticeable? best setup: 4 gb ddr1333 or 8 gb ddr1066?
- can put ddr1333 ram in 2009 mbp?

you're asking trouble putting wrong speed memory in computers.

in experience, can away putting ram that's faster machine requires, i.e. putting ddr1333 in mbp. won't run @ full speed, there's possibility won't work @ all.

putting ddr1066 ram in machine made ddr1333 won't work @ all. if work, ram going overstressed , give out sooner normal.

there's reason ram sold in different speeds , configurations. they're not supposed interchangeable. recommendation if need more ram mini, buy correct type , upgrade instead of switching modules older computer. 8gb kit mini can had $40.

looking for a good speaker for my iphone 4


i looking speaker setup iphone 4. speaker wireless own airport express guess can use well. looking quality in 100-150 range. not music audio scene why posting this. not sure manf make sound compared others. know bose way much. need decent size single speaker can put in room when have company @ house , have nice crisp music come out of. thank in advance.

have 1 problem iphone 4s has activated but...

used absinthe mac 0.4 , finished per tutorial ,
installed cydia , installous....

after when inserted sim asking activation...
there os 5.0.1 9a406 downgrade 9a405 in order success unlock etc..
after downgrade asking activation , can't bypass it..

tried run absinthe mac 0.4 said have activate before run.

used itunes 10.5.3 (lion 10.7) firmware , did backup of iphone can't restore it...

how bypass activation screen ?

tried redsn0w , hactivation didn't work... need advise
did screw changed ipsw?
know there no custom ipsw 4s



 

you can't downgrade 4s. need authorized sim past activation screen. cingular, at&t gophone or regular, h2o. can inactive sims.

i've bought first imac , have i'm pleased it. have never used other apple software before other iphone4 , ipad2.

apps recommend acquire first (i have looked through recommendation sticky above majority appear dated)? i'm using mac create videos, store , print photos , store/download/listen music , films.

Restoring music from iOS5. iTunes Match?


a friend of mine in problematic situation laptop containing itunes library has kicked bucket. or more specifically, brutally murdered virus, no anti-virus software on poor windows 7 machine protect it. hard drive recovery has unfortunately not worked.

naturally, there no backup. though have ipad, containing wants.

i've tried searching solutions restoring library ipad, nothing has stuck out simple solution. laptop has yet replaced, i'm trying figure out needs done ready when new 1 arrives.

i've seen utilities can copy files off of ipods, many of them seem few years old , i'm not sure if they'd work ipad.

ideally though, think enabling backup icloud option on ipad , using itunes match upload around problem. i'm hoping new laptop setup icloud , match used reclaim music. except don't have ipad test don't know if work. can ipad upload itunes match, or laptop required this?

Recovering iTunes Playlists After Restore from TM?


i experienced first mac catastrophe. fortunately, had both ccc , tm backups rely on recover. unfortunately, when recovered itunes library, although information itl file survived (playcounts , ratings, example), regular playlists didn't (smart playlists did). have no xml backups because thought data lived in itl. out of luck, or there someplace else should looking?
 

your playlists stored in subfolder in
~/music/itunes libraries/itunes mac/​
which should contain itunes library.xml file.

can't reinstall LION


i can't reinstall lion on internal hd. forgot apple id recreated new 1 when try install lion says need original apple id. forgot why had go apple , make new one, please.

Excel for Mac Issue


i'm having problem uploading/opening embedded objects in excel workbook.

example: try upload pdf file , error message saying "cannot insert object". when upload excel or word objects workbook, works. error happens pdf files.

same thing happens when try open embedded pdf file in workbook. when double-click icon messages appears saying "cannot start source application object. there may not enough memory available." sure memory not case excel has done while? have go onto windows computer , work file there uploading pdfs want stay working on mac.

on side note, when create hyperlink in workbook refer 1 of tabs @ bottom, tabs aren't working. right click on cell , click hyperlink. leads me pop-up window , choose document tab. locate worksheet in workbook under anchor , click on desired cell reference, ok. okay until close spreadsheet , when re-open it, hyperlink not work anymore.

Brand New MBA, Wi-Fi will not turn on.


i know when apple first rolled out os x 10.7 lion people having problems wifi connections, core i5 mid-2011 model mba shipped lion. when turned on first time wifi indicator on top bar said "wifi: no hardware installed" (the system profiler says otherwise), no longer says when click turn wi-fi on top bar or system preferences menu nothing.

i'm pretty pissed paid 1 day shipping , i'll have wait turn around , have them ship me new one, i'm hoping it's glitch might able fix before going through that. :mad:

Did anyone's iPhone lock up yesterday (1/24)?


for first time iphone locked @ blank screen. blank mean if phone turned off. picked use , nada. upon closer inspection, there faint "thinking" icon (lines arranged in circle "spins" while phone laughing @ you). had reset bring life.

wouldn't have thought twice it, later same day happened wifey. both have iphone4s's didn't have same apps running. might cool story bro, i'm curious if happened else.
 

my 4s didn't , used day yesterday, would've noticed.

How do I extract photos out of my iPhone under albums


i can access pictures when connect iphone , shows picture folder. added pictures on iphone pc dont have access anymore , stored under album. cant seem extract photos out of iphone itunes says delete photos phone not on pc.
 

email them yourself, save them in computer.

MobileTerminal constantly crashing after 2 seconds.


after jailbreaking iphone 4 (ios 5.0.1) yesterday went go change password openssh mobileterminal , opened , crashed straight away.

have tried uninstalling , reinstalling several times, have tried rebooting iphone after have installed it.

11" Basic Model


looking @ getting new macbook air... wil low end model 2gb of ram enough basic browsing, watching movies, downloading etc?
 

any mac model.... mini.... can handle such tasks. biggest issue how can see movie on such small screen. some, it's not problem @ all.

Cheap Replacement for fans in Front Fan Assembly?


after 5 years, front fan assembly started making crappy noises last night.

bought thing in 2006, , needless say, out of warranty. found $80 replacement online , can't bring myself pay 5 times these things worth. i'm willing drill out fans , replace them.

question is: has tried swap these out? heard 2 120mm fans.

want use existing on-board power source. problem? computer fault change in current?

or tips appreciated.
 

i've had success refurbishing mac fans.

if can fans out, down fans (no housing), can clean , relubricate them.

peel sticker off of fan motor covers fan spindle. either soak entire fan, or pour marvel mystery oil bearing area , let soak.

liquid non-conductive , isn't harsh solvent, nor stink. smells faintly minty , bright red consistency of transmission fluid.

after 10-20min fan should ready thoroughly cleaned , re-installed. mmo stays in bearing flushes out dust accumulates , gunks inside well.

i've never run fan, no matter how noisy or choppy, couldn't fix using method. can save lot of money in case.

WiFi issues? Having to turn WiFi on and off constantly.


wifi issues? having turn wifi on , off constantly.
2011 i7 mba freezes once turn wifi off it's fine. not router or internet connection not issue on windows machines , speedtest sites confirm that. gives? having similar issues?
 

sounds have bad airport card installed. i'd take in apple. check console logs , see if there's log files of when happening.

i'm creating core data favorite feature. have favorite attribute type boolean in recipe table. there 2 views.

first view user select favorite.
second view display list of favorites selected.

feature works fine when go first view. however, app crashed after go second view , go first view again. following error:

iMovie randomly muting my clips??


hey, i'm using imovie make video of me , friends song playing in background.
split video few separate parts (all same audio levels).

whenever playback full project, background audio stays same, video's audio drops mute randomly in middle of project. when combine clips (rather splitting them), audio comes fully. help?
 

if doing music video, , have song in itunes.
work you, if dragged song project? (it detached), or how now?
i'm taking audio shot in video together. can't answer actual problem on why mutes in middle.
double check on videos in inspector(blue gear in clip), audio adjustments, , see if volume way in each one.
