Reconnect to Time Machine backups after CHANGING FILE TREE
hi, community,
reinstalled snow leopard on new macbook pro 8,1, , used opportunity revert file hierarchy think more optimal future ssd use.
want restore documents tm on previous macbook pro, , reconnect tm's backup current tree. migration assistant takes ages list inside users, point wondered if froze. currently, tm snapshot accessible
problem is, since files , folders aren't in same position, have manually select target directory, , files or folders aren't copied. it's not big deal if can reconnect tm's backup older backup.
however, after reading many pages on "reconnection" topic, seems common secondary issue is, tm, although reconnected previous snapshots, performs @ least 1 full backup. secondary issue is, don't have enough room secondary, full backup. i'm pretty sure there full backup attempted since file tree has changed.
small terminal-related knownledge think symlinks may helpful here, past experience similar case unsuccessful (back tried put symlink between users folder , external partition, hoping applications follow it. didn't.)
how can achieve goal?
