Potential iPhone 5 screen size?

apple typically supports last 3 generations of ios device. when next iphone (5?) comes out, 3gs , 480x320 screen pushed out, leaving 4/4s , 960x640 resolution. opens opportunity introduce new resolution*.



current iphone has pretty thick bezel, gives room increase screen size without increasing physical phone size.

here's how 3 potential screen sizes stack in terms of physical size. note 5" screen still same size total size of physical iphone 4s... if can rid of bezels completely. *dreams*

reason didn't multiply width 50% because becomes wide fingers grip. there's no reason not increase height more. well, changes aspect ratio of screen of course.

if wanted more boring/conservative 25%/25% increase in both directions, you'd this.

*iphone apps have updated support new resolution. old apps displayed in 3.5" middle part of screen (no smaller on iphone 4s screen) black borders, or scaled 1.25x fill screen. similar how ipad 1 ran iphone apps in 1x or 2x mode.
