MBA -to- ATD - <usb> - External Display?

hi guys,

@ work have 11 inch macbook air hooked through thunderbolt thunderbolt display, works great btw.

anyway, looking hook portrait-view monitor on left of above setup. tried hook minidisplayport hdmi using rear thunderbolt port on atd, needless not work.

so, question is...can hook usb vga/dvi using usb-out on of atd gain monitor capability? has tried in past? or have use usb-out on macbook air achieve this?

monitor trying hook maxs out @ 1080p think , using code work performance not issue.

appreciated. also, if can steer me in right direction in terms of usb vga/dvi cable (preferably available @ monoprice) great!!

, not drive atd. dont know of usb solutions above work thunderbolt display. resolution high.

have atd out of thunderbolt port lower resolution monitor running off usb using above adapter
