Recieved strangers personal data over iCloud

let me start off saying huge fan , supporter of apple. have had above par customer service until latest experience need in seeing if problem common.

2 months ago took dying iphone4 local store , had replaced free of charge. great work with. when got home noticed number of contacts had been synced phone through icloud not mine. started deleting them 1 one until noticed had hundreds of them. not concerned except strangers information had on phone personal bank information such usernames, passwords, , password hints. had address home. discovered pilot , had secret login credentials boarding planes.

took phone apple , expressed concern , amazement apple genius tried getting me pay icloud service helped. said beyond expertise. asked manager , suggestion delete 200 contacts manually. told them crazy thinking pay fix issue. went home , contacted individual myself , shared story. of course not happy , wants pursue law suit.

suggestions? happening often? how many other people out of 85 million icoud users have or personal information?

very unusual story.

if don't want data why not restore phone , start over?
