CCC and cloning partitions

hello

wondering capabilities of carbon copy cloner. i've used it, , fantastic. runing on mac pro 4 drives (i'll call them drives a, b, c, , d). question is: can ccc clone partition on drive directly second partition on drive a, or first have clone partition on drive b, , drive b second partition on drive a? have decided want have 2 partitions same programs, 1 snow leopard (for rosetta), , other lion. start 2 sl partitions, update 1 of them lion. triple bootable between sl, lion, , xp. work?

also, can describe how sheepshaver works?

it can clone 1 partition another, irregardless if 2 partitions on same physical hdd.

used ccc yesterday clone several mounted cdr files (images of mac os x install dvds) stored on same hdd partitions cloned to.
