iMac 21.5" i5 with Skype???

friend thinking of getting imac 21.5" i5 skype service. obtain combo communicate both other imac systems , windows x systems. and, isn't sure of skype free service or skype premium service. since don't use skype myself, cannot accurately provide pros / cons of configuration.

appreciate feedback on combo. skype imac usage lessons learned.
