dose smart covers really scratch the iPad

i heard scratch ipad because if that's true better full body screen protectors before add on?

 

they sell screen protectors ipads? didn't know that. have 1 ipod touch. many of friends have ipad don't have screen protectors on them, have case , there's no scratches on them, smudges see time (which can wiped off). however, if add screen protector, kind of disturbs quality of ipad... (and also, aren't screens ipads suppose "scratch-proof"?)
