Help With Unique Backup/Storage Solution

i have unique situation with.

have 2 macbook pros in family , i'm running out of hdd room. 1 250gb other 750gb. have wd 500gb mybook storage , of precious data. full.

need invest in larger storage device , start running time machine backups. i've looked several options , none seem fit me precisely. want able have large amount of expandable space storage, backup time machine both computers, , set sort of mirroring system, raid1, give myself little protection drive failure. know start of backup protection, need start somewhere. send maybe 10gb of "life , death" data cloud based storage. rest of data precious, not life , death. inconvenient loose. thus, desire little protection of raid1. using storage , accessing files , forth, , backing couple of times week.

unique situation live on road in fifth wheel. nas system synology ds411j sounds wonderful, don't have own internet per say. tether cell phone , wifi changes place place nothing constant. other problem power. move place place i'm not connected ac power. doesn't bother me it's not on when looking drobo products reading problems people loosing there formatting , machine acting after power outages. machine need powered down without affecting when move , hardy enough not go crazy accidental loss of power. also, have able take little bit of jostling on road.

i'm leaning sort of 4-bay type storage system i'm unsure how products affected situation. , advice can give me appreciated.

don't know budget have checked out time capsule (tc)? 3tb future growth? est. private lan in 5th untethered backups , data sharing. not mention shared internet when have access point available.

maybe upgrade hard drives in mbp's larger drives (1tb? each) data spanned , shared between 2 machines on wifi lan created tc. , both machines backed tm, again, untethered , effortlessly w/time machine.
