Should I leave 5.1 for now?

ok....i adopted lion early, , kind of wish hadn't.

didn't put ios 5 on ipod touch while, when did less responsive.

have iphone 4s (ios5) keeps wanting me put on 5.1 on but:

- i'm happy battery life , little concerned people have said it's made worse.

- can't see else in features want.

can give me compelling reason why shouldn't ignore fact 5.1 exists?

if you're type takes out iphone snap quick picture, 5.1 you. battery life, opinion 5.1 better 5.0.1. after full charge, 4s stay @ 100% quite long while under standby mode. well, every person has own opinion on battery lifespan.
siri in japanese? if you're keen in learning japanese or happen japanese, bonus.

restore down 4.1, jailbreak, reflash ipad baseband , install ultrasn0w unlock it.

Network Storage and Aperture issue

so had photos on external usb. running out of space, opted western digital book live network hard drive when decided go bigger.

have sort of regretted decision many reasons, 1 of issues having in aperture.

used "relocate masters" command in aperture move photos on network storage. this, btw did not work hot have liked (messed folder structure), not issue have. since did this, every time open aperture, cannot find reference files. have use "locate referenced files" command in order aperture link files can edit them.

volume available in finder. can access photos there no problem. when open "locate referenced files" window, on top part, left column lists volumes, volume photos on says "offline", below, can choose location of files, volume listed fine. can proceed choose location of photos , aperture works fine again.

if import files , have aperture put photos on nas, has no problem. it's when exit , open again seem loose connection.

have ideas going on? thanks.

happened me too

spent of weekend move masters synology diskstation. worked well. today, after being off network while, when reconnected masters offline although synology drive online.

updated 3.2.3 yesterday...

Passcode lockout glitch - heads up

got new ipad last night , until slapped on mag cover , closed it. locked out, though had not set passcode , old passcode had not migrated on else ipad 2. more tried, longer period of time ipad disabled. finally, found user online had similar problem. somehow, new ipad default outlook exchange password if don't set 1 before closing , locking new 'pad. never have thought of in million years, sure enough, after waiting disable period pass, entering exchange password (also nt login work) unlocked device , able set simple passcode.

posting heads in case else encounters this.

Lion: Linking Desktops to the Dock

i find helpful if dock provided someway of identifying open app linked desktop. eg number of desktop on dock icon. better, if desktop number highlighted desktop in. hope makes sense! there apps add feature?

guess looking have better idea of without swiping , forth between desktops.

way, prefer not lock app particular desktop seems result in more clicking of mouse.

own 2007 year model of white macbook. use laptop secondary computer. after long period of sitting on shelf, laptop turned on. however, battery not charging! when plug power adapter out, computer instantly shuts down!
know wrong, , how can resolve problem?

how long did leave on shelf? it's possible battery dead. try resetting smc. also, see link troubleshooting magsafe adapters @ bottom of charging section of following link. should answer most, if not all, of battery questions:

If you had AppleCare+, would you still use a case / screen protector?

i'm debating whether want spigen glas.t screen protector ($30 shipped) - hate feeling of screen protectors feel glass 1 might trick.

thing is, have applecare+ on 4s. else have applecare+ , still rock case or screen protector?

i have applecare+ still have spg glas.t on 4s.
not use cases, hate cases much, ruin experience of having thin , beautiful phone. i've dropped 4s many times thing tank! there dings scratches on metal band cares, apple replace if take in store.
reason have glas.t little protection. last weekend dropped phone @ beach parking lot screen didn't shatter, part of glas.t shattered.
if want protect screen, buy glas.t, feels smooth glass on iphone, , has oleophobic coating.

iphone charging problems (water damage)

i dropped phone in water , battery shot after ordering new battery , replacing phone turned on again , worked fine, thing wrong charging port wouldnt recognize when phone plugged in charge wouldnt charge though battery holding charge. ordered new charging port , installed it. phone recognizes charging doesnt seem progressively charging @ all. problem here? there between port transfers energy battery broken? think getting 1 of chargers sit phone on , charges wirelessly fix problem? im not sure do.

New Admin User Account

hey! in process of setting old imac (getting new 27" tomorrow) sell on ebay. running os x lion 10.7.3 on imac 2.8 ghz intel core 2 duo (4 gb ram).

problem:

plan delete old user accounts (securely) , created new administrative account buyer. have tried several times create new admin account when attempt log in account, spinning beach ball.

have done several things trouble shoot it: changed standard account (and able log in weirdly enough). deleted , created admin account , had same thing happen... have tried restarting same results. enabled guest account , able log in there well.

suggestions?

why don't clean install os mac came (or mac os x 10.6 snow leopard @ least)?
mac os x 10.7 lion tied mac app store (mas) account, if upgraded imac lion yourself.

how can time machine backups hard drive connected computer?

have mba , time machine backups mbp has external drive connected it. both laptops on same wi-fi network. ideally, great if mba can select time machine , backup external hard drive connected mbp.

how do this??

i don't know if work or not, surmise steps follows:

1) make sure host machine set "wake network access" within energy saver preference pane.

2) enable file sharing on host mac, making sure "share files , folders using afp" selected under "options." add external hard drive "shared folders" list , add user read & write permissions.

3) mount file share on guest mac. open time machine preference pane , choose "select disk." select share mounted.

if doesn't work else have chime in. i've never attempted you're asking do. backup usb hard drive connected airport extreme router.

another question boss... wants able email/message "groups" of people outlook @ work. example, have 3 guys make maintenance , wants email them because doesn't know around day. know can click add each contact there actual "group" setting? if not, figured add contact "maintenance" , add many phone numbers & email addresses needed under it. easier him if select 3 contacts , name them "maintenance" instead of retyping everything.

Well... Accidentally ordered two SSD's. Return?

just title states, accidentally ordered 2 ssds 15'' macbook pro; both crucial m4, 1 256gb , other 128gb. since apps , os going going on ssd (256gb 1 deff. keepingg) , media going on hdd 7200rpm, see kind of speed difference putting media on ssd opposed hdd see putting os , apps on one? if not them guess ill have return it.

of access email on variety of different media - phone, mac mail, different browsers etc. mail read sync'd such across of devices. works relatively except mac mail doesn't seem "know" have read particular message on device.

if read email on mac mail indeed marked read on server , therefore across of devices. if read email before mail pulls off server marked read. problem (and being quite liberal term) happens when mac mail running, , read email on device. mail isn't "rechecking" read status. there way turn on option?

depends on bricked it. it's extremely hard say. know not turning on. if it's software, can save it. curious, how good (in terms of price)? answer question @ least let me able tell whether i, personally, take gamble. $25? sure. $100? maybe not.

it coincidence mother's hd crashed same day ordered parents ipad2 christmas. figured time ditch pc altogether.

father asked me week how cost replace hd in mother's computer. explained cheap data gone.

turns out mother used spend hours @ time down in computer room. dad complaining carries ipad on house , can't away her.

guess there needs warning label possibility.

What happened to TinyChat?

when tinychat became available on app store, downloaded on iphone, planning wait until got new ipad (as first gen had no camera) download on ipad. have ipad, went store , got no results when searching it. when went purchased, wasn't there though still on iphone. also, when go tinychat's site on ipad , redirects me app store, says no results found. know if app removed or going on? thanks.

iPod touch Veency not working on iOs 5.0.1

veency 0.9.3378-1
, i've tried using ultravnc, tightvnc, vnc viewer, itunnel, , display recorder.

want control ipod mouse. i've done many months ago, it's not working. try putting ip in vnc program , end 'timed out' errors. i've tried using display recorder web viewer , can't connect either.

turned off firewalls, i've made exceptions, i've tried opening ports, i've tried running itunnel command prompt, , i've googled problem in 20 different phrases.

think it's ipod because can't connect either desktop or laptop computers. how check ipod or reset can working?

i use microfiber cloth clean macbook pro , tiny bit of water helps dirt/buildup removed microfiber cloth. eye glass cloth works great on both screen , aluminum body. i'm sure there real products designed both $1 i'm happy results lol

iPhone 4S and JVC KD-R730BT Car unit - Music (not) over Bluetooth

i acquired jvc kd-r730bt head unit car, has been pretty nice me far - has usb port on front charge iphone , play music, , bluetooth connection works phone itself.

however, i'm running issue how music plays unit, ipod see unit's bluetooth connection audio mid-song, , switch output dock connector bluetooth, interrupting playback (since head unit still in dock mode playback). can disable bluetooth audio playback on head unit temporarily, re-pairs , reestablishes audio link next time power on car / unit.

i've contacted jvc, support unhelpful. there way tell iphone 4s (running ios 5.1) not use bluetooth music playback, or alternatively, use dock connector phone? i'd ok if bluetooth removed equation completely, , dock handled audio both in , out phone calls.
