Need some insight for graphics setup

i have flashed hd4890 installed in mp1,1. have original x1900 xt sitting somewhere collecting dust. drawback can't enjoy second screen in osx started miss much. plan try new setup i'm not sure few things, knows better on subject please enlighten me. here goes:

let's put x1900 xt in. connect second monitor on dvi port (it's connected through hdmi on hd4890). crossfire cards together.

1) understand crossfire doesn't work on osx. shouldn't prevent cards used separately normal though, it?

2) in windows, crossfire work (given install needed drivers) or need setup cables differently (e.g sli y-shaped cables)?

3) in osx, x1900 xt have significant difference vs hd4890 on video performance? because used movies. never got 'hd' thing anyway, x1900 supports higher res 'full hd' , it's doable through dvi cable, if want video , not sound. both cards have 'avivo' technology i'm not sure it's supposedly meant hd video.

so, thoughts on this?

how many power cables need?

assume 4890 uses 2 power cables, how many power cables x1900xt need?

New iPad 16GB or iPad 32GB?

i purchased 16gb wifi model of new ipad. i'm having second thoughts, i'm thinking should have went 32gb. purchased ipad micro center , out of stock on 32gb model , i'm not sure they'd let me exchange. apple store make exchange me?

Hi res images

has noticed hi res images akin new screen take while "come focus"? downloaded of ipad wallpapers @ interface lift 2048x2048. saved them photos app. when view them, first blurry , snap focus. when view them slide show lock screen, complete garbage before snapping in.

Encore, why is it Transcoding?

follow directions exactly, import assett encore , still wants transcode.

wasted entire weekend encoding , working on project , waste of time.

have clue on how can fix this?

i don't want recall amount of hours i've had troubleshoot encore cs4, , share pain; briefly scrubbed through youtube link , tell you, used go through compressor(via matrox compresshd card) output h.264 file bring encore, seemed encore did not output compressor , retranscode file; note, least of problems encore cs4; i'm on cs5.1, , haven't yet had author blu-ray, seems lot more stable , prefer encoding in adobe media encoder.

when having issues cs4 , compressor created files, found in end spending more time trying troubleshoot problem(s), , had sent through media encoder(cs5.1 appears multi-core aware), have been finished already. recommendation send qt file through media encoder , leave compressor out of equation.

Problems with numbers and pages syncing.

hi

can't seem work out numbers , pages apps won't sync. have made few edits on ipad , 'upload' arrow in top right corner of each document dosnt seem upload. when open iphone app don't updated documents , bar trying load update on 1 of files (hope makes sense).

running ios 5.1 date apps on iphone4 , ipad1. have feeling problem since 5.1 update not sure.

have ideas?

went , bought new ipad today , far fine. did notice ipad 3 shows 1 fewer wifi signal strength bar ipad 2 does. consistent throughout house.

Broken cable 1 iphone 3gs

in attempt fix digitizer, seemed have broken lcd connector. (getting white screen else seems working right such can hear when texting or calling me) i'm worried might connection on motherboard instead of cable 1. there way can decipher between might broken? going order entire new digitizer/screen/lcd assembly off of ebay thirty dollars, if cable 1 isn't broken here i'd rather not spend money.

if same phone got water damage, imo has nothing ribbon breaking. it's pcb. don't know how has cost you, might have been better pay out of warranty cost new phone.

iMac overheating?

i have kind of weird question...i in constant battle roommate , stupid friend here on thermostat. (they 18 , 19 , have absolutely no respect or anything.) prefer temperature set around 68-70 degrees. think reasonable comfortable temperature. reason @ 67 last night , heard them yelling it. didn't touch it. don't know know why 67 degrees. anyway, guess in attempt royally p*ss me off, decided turn 93 degrees morning. yes thats right, ninety-three degrees. luckily caught before got warmer 70... question have imac, macbook pro , ipad in room. if leave day , decide asinine again, gadgets in trouble?

Time machine just "preparing"

just under month ago time capsule ran out of space. understanding when happens time machine starts deleting old backups, has done in past.

time has not deleted anything. deleted several of older backups via time machine interface , still isn't backing up

MBA Air 2011: Jawbone Icon (via bluetooth) was fine, and then...

edit: issue has been resolved. solution pair headset (i.e. while headset still unnamed, before osx determine name of headset jawbone icon). also, not deleted bluetooth references file in library folder, audio preferences. when did of these steps, jawbone icon connected fine! did receive "bluetooth audio error" message fixed using usual method below.

understand many forums filled osx lion users encountering problems bluetooth issues headsets. wanted specify issue i'm having in particular forum.

have jawbone icon working fine macbook air 11" (2011) 2 weeks ago.

usually, annoying "bluetooth audio error" message, switching microphone options jawbone icon in audio settings circumvented problem.

today, had different surprise. bluetooth audio error message strikingly persistent. so, decided remove device , re-pair again. bewilderment, refuses pair air. bluetooth setup shows "gathering information device," jawbone light turns off , device never finishes pairing, though hear "jawbone connected" through headset.

moreover, bluetooth preferences show device connected, sound options have no choices output through jawbone. furthermore, pressing jawbone's button gives me "waiting phone connect" message.

think bluetooth 1 thing in lion bugs me. admit windows 7 more reliable in regard. nonetheless, i'll quick time machine restore 2 weeks ago, before do, there ideas jawbone icon users? thank you!

hi, have problems email formating in lion , mail app. in preferences there set tahoma 10pt emails , signature created tahoma 10pt. first problem see characters small magnifing scope, in reality tahoma 10pt enaugh (experiences win , pc). when send email, receiver see in serif font, not tahoma, , size 10pt. receiver signature in tahoma font bigger 10pt. dont understand problem. have same problem , solution?

10pt little small imho. i've set 12pt in prefs. maybe pc manages fonts differently compared mac

battery useage and reception lost?

quick question. case decreases reception use battery more normal? it's trying make difference since reception being brought in less it's putting out

i've noticed since getting glidecase usage has dropped barely 4 hours when before case 6 hours useage.

unless it's searching service if you're in low service area, no, won't shouldn't use battery. don't concerned usage, means how long you've used phone since last full charge.

1080p causes HDTV monitor to flicker black on MacPro, any ideas?

i aquired flat screen toshiba hdtv , figured i'd give go @ trying use monitor. i'm running dvi hdmi cable mac pro (2,1 "clovertown" 2007, 8gb ram) monitor. it's running 1080p native. , no, not using hdmi run audio.

problem screen flickers black .5 seconds normal. tends when open new window in safari, or scroll down on page. happens when scroll in itunes too, it's not safari problem.

i've spent past few days tinkering refresh rates , turning overscan on & off. still flickers black in every configuration.

i've changed resolutions 1080p 1360 x 768 (60hz ntsc). has no flickering issues, i've concluded issue caused 1080p setting.

unfortunately 1360 x 768 way big , amount of space on 1080p setting acceptable choice.

know causes 1080p flicker? or if there workaround?

some tvs don't have great hdmi compatibility i'm afraid say, i've used mbp in countless hdtvs preview work , once had problem tv refused believe there input. happens unfortunately, thing can suggest make sure cables fine , go lower resolution has no issues.

does app edit photos in full 8mp size?

other editing apps i've tried seem automatically downgrade resolution sizes around 1200x800, frustrating when try crop , resolution turns out terrible.

i'm trying find app doesn't this, can't find info on whether or not camera+ fits bill.

it edits iphone 4 pictures @ 5mp, assume 8mp retained on 4s.

it's still favourite camera app.

trying set windows xp sp2 partition, had set @ 32gb.

disk , use disk utility format single mac os extended (journaled) volume. restore information disk , try using boot camp assistant again.

mean need system up, , reformat entire hd??

tried virtual box, , not vm set up. prefer full resources of machine running windows.

i had same problem. turned out of ringtones (my own ringtones) don't work iphone on ios5. if assigned faulty ones anything, i'd weird default rintone. not of own (added) ringtones problematical. of them worked. favorite 1 didn't. so, test phone first using ringtones came iphone, test might have added.

Working in Simulator but not on device

sitting, have had success getting coordinates quickly?

thing is, gps pretty rubbish, if sitting inside computer may not able communicate satellites. takes bit of time coordinates, more 30 sec.

load app , go outside bit. create viewcontroller can post logging can see going on.

iPod touch Jailbreak makes ur iDevice "Super Slow"!!

after jail breaking brand new ipod touch 4g (5.0.1) new tool became super slow , non responding, although it's empty
quits apps more often! .. tried redsn0w 0.9.10b4 old iphone 4 .. same thing, became slower , freezes god damn windows 7!

sadly don't think there fix. had same issue.

think reason why in ios (and mac os x) becoming more "sandboxed". apple more checking in ios 5 jailbroken devices (eg. can't upgrade on wifi if device has been jailbroken checks applications folder.) don't know how fixed if case either :\

Reformat Question

forgive me if has been covered did search , couldn't find anywhere.

have mid-2009 15" macbook pro. shipped 10.5 , have since upgraded 10.6 , 10.7. since purchase, i've moved half dozen times , have lost original 10.5 os x disc (and 10.6 purchased). know, 10.7 download via mac app store.

so, in short, question - i'm preparing sell macbook pro, in order upgrade, , curious how can complete fresh reformat of hard drive before doing (remember don't have os x disc came , i've since upgraded twice).

there 30+ months of possibly private data i'd make sure doesn't passed along next owner.

also, 1 last question (somewhat unrelated). i'm not familiar timemachine, if use backup macbook can transfer backup new machine once purchase one?

In need of opinions

so have come face dilemma. now, not know if appropriate category start thread on, since regarding ipad thought relevant enough.

dilemma is, contemplating selling ipad 2 on kijiji since have heard rumors of ipad 3. not mention, 1 has lost little bit of charm me (not entirely, though). wanted share background information , personal opinions people.

have had ipad 2 since july 2011. it's in condition despite tiny little nick has on 1 corner. shortly after bought ipad 2, got iphone 4. ever since then, have felt little bit of regret buying ipad because phone use ipad for, not on bigger screen. had 3gs before got iphone 4, hated resolution on after got 4 did appreciate having iphone. , 1 thing turns me off ipad 2 resolution in comparison iphone 4 (or 4s now), , that's rumors of ipad 3 has caught attention.

rumored resolution increased, right? can see happening other tablets have higher resolution, , expecting second generation ipad. bad move on apple if did not include it. motivates me want sell ipad 2 now, find myself in little bit of doubt mom keeps saying horrible idea sell it. (i'm 17 years old, grade 12 student). has ipad 2 well, , says regret if do. leaves me in bit of confusion opinion makes impact on logic. why posting this, need opinions , insight on everything.

Q on long exposure photos; how the photo is recorded- the process

hi,

i've done long exposure photos before , know how them etc... have question how photo recorded , process camera uses.

lets try explain thoughts;
taking long exposure , walks across photo black tshirt on, followed person white tshirt on. these opposite colours cancel each other out bit? same said colours.

reason i'm asking because i'm trying show movement through space accurate possible if colours being cancelled out affect results?

the colours won't cancel each other out cause person become invisible, pixels blend/average, theoretically become shade of gray - way average biased depends on light intensity of subjects (and black shirt absorb lot of light).

glowing (literally) green shirt have more prominence on dim red shirt when cross paths in exposure.

gmail contacts groups and mac address book

guys,
have switched iphone galaxy nexus , have issue getting gmail contacts sync correctly address book on imac.
problem have many groups set on gmail account when sync (automatically) contacts sync not groups......does mean have create groups manually or doing soothing wrong??

if read through google's online contact synching, you'll find synching groups isn't yet supported, intend add eventually.

in mean time, appears there 3rd party contact synchronization services claim include groups , both google contacts , mac address book, know nothing them don't want try make suggestions.

Running Windows on 2008 Mac Pro

any malware on windows partition cannot affect mac partition, unless deliberately enable kind of access, extremely unlikely do. no windows malware can run on or affect mac os x.

situation. have document has text on etc , images. document on web or rather work internal intranet( not accessible outside work). can print document off.

lookin @ editing text in document therefore text looks same font , style original.

have option of printing document , scanning @ home shows on mba.

so got core i5 mac mini in august of last year. been computer, having issues lion. hamachi/logmein vpn server doesn't work few other programs. in attempt downgrade snow leopard inserting retail snow leopard disk external dvd drive, kernel panics. genius said due firmware can't downgrade?

Confirming: there is no way to globally delete from photo stream from ios5.1

all, when try delete photo stream on 5.1 device, says remove device i'm using - not globally icloud account (which affect devices family has). missing something?

use photostream on our appletv screen saver , there many crummy photos on - how selectively eliminate them?

you don't delete photos under photostream setting. use photos app delete them photo stream.
