Disk utility sees backup drive image, but no directory

mac osx powerbook
purchased disk warrior software see if save backup drive. haven't had luck getting dw find or read or whatever it's supposed do. i've used both start disk, , have downloaded , used utilities folder. not sure if drive dead or what. it's strange because when plug drive in, computer inserted disk unreadable. when hit 'ignore', drive appear in 'more computer' in system folder, show in disk utility. in each case, though, there no directory shows underneath it.

i've taken screen shot both windows showing , wondering if can tell me way go @ point. close getting myself? should give , take in service? know if appears salvageable?
