Time machine not backing up NAS drive

i got synology ds411j nas. have spent quite while transferring external hd. ready time machine, turns out tm doesn't see nas drive. tried mounting through "connect server" option in finder, folder on nas on greyed out. oddly enough, tm gives me option exclude backups, when exclude it, doesn't show on list of exclusions.

unfortunately, every time google variation of time machine , nas, inundated "using nas time machine." however, not want do. have access nas , up, along computer, time machine.

can guys help? in advance!
