Update not showing up

the released java update showed without problem on macbook air (2011, lion).
os x lion on imac (2011) didn't find it.
ran automatic update @ least 3 or 4 times without success.
retrieved update manually , installed - 0 problems.

wondering, has never happened before.
did here every have problem of updates not showing automatically?
shouldn't computer dependent, right?
same lion in same version on different machines...

Bug in Photo frame option in iPad

Some thoughts about the Jawbone Jawbox Bluetooth speaker

i picked today on semi-whim; i'd read few reviews , under no illusions getting. passed on portable airplay speakers (at least house since. i've got both appletv , airplay enabled receiver. either when i'm guzzling beer on deck, camping, or work.

how loud it? don't work in noisy environment (in lab of people work in silence). won't able play @ full volume when there; played @ full volume fills lab (20 60 feet). lab dead silent thou times. @ home, i'm testing out now, can play @ full volume. playing on ground floor, can heard in rooms. can sort of heard downstairs if playing in main floor. neighbors not complain if ilayed window open @ 2 am. loud enough.

what's sound quality like? download 3d stereo plugin, run time , won't sound you're playing on cell phone/portable. not use party, perhaps 2-3 people, , maybe background noise or isten new tunes. oneself, sounds pretty good; surprisingly so, if doesn't sound ringing endorsement

what's included in box; 2 mini > full usb cale's (4 ft , 2 ft length), wall plug, mini > mini stereo jack.

move? yes, @ loud volumes. enough catch cat's attention.

bad it? yes, sound muddied. played 'smells teen spirit' @ full volume. not pleasant, low bit rate ogg encode.

it? good? well, apple lossless encode of gimme shelter sounds stellar. size of large can of red bull. audio podcasts sound good. i'm getting 40 ft tops wireless distance.

battery life? dunno yet, update post within day.

haven't tried games, shoutcast, skype, radio or iphone yet. update.

depends on doing. at&t's 4g hspa+ general browsing , email. average 3-5mbps down. i'm not sure 4g lte 30mbps down ipad for, since can't download movies or apps bigger 50mb anyway.

Issue with putting a tableview inside a scrollview inside a tab view

i'm experimenting making irc program. if you're not familiar irc, can multiple channels @ once. in client, can switch channels (chat rooms) , chat log nick list (the list of other people in channel) reflect in current channel.

decided put each channel in it's own tab view. exercise, made tabview tabless, , put nsbuttons @ top of window can switch between channels.

made nick list on right side of screen scrollable, since channels have hundreds of participants. made mockup of user interface, , can enter name of channel , click + button, , 'create' channel. adds button tab, textview chat, , scrollview tableview inside nick list.

here's problem. create channel when program begins. appears fine. when add new channel, doesn't work! can switch first channel, , appears right.

first tab looks like, , want others like:

i'm sure it's simple. have memory leaks in code (and other issues) i'm worried scrollview issue now. project attached , if took appreciate it.

i have app on iphone called "chrontacts" allows me see recent contacts i've added in chronological order. useful socially active people keeping track of new contacts. i'm trying create same functionality lion address book smart groups, have been having trouble. chose fields in order:

"date" > "is within" > "30" > "days"

in mind translates to: "all contacts date added within past 30 days". smart group turning out blank. perhaps logic mistaken in believing "date" field means "date added"? have not figured out method. advice appreciated!

i don't think "date" equivalent date added. "date" seems refer birthday & anniversary fields.

Do I need to wait in line for in-store pickup?

so ordered ipad picked @ apple store (which i've not done before) on 16th. assume there's going long line of people showing hoping buy one. going need wait in line unwashed masses though pre-ordered? seems wrong how work? set separate line ipad buyers haven't pre-ordered or something? 1 problem have need drive out of town of day, i'm going have short period of time wait (about 30 minutes after store opens @ 8:00). after that, won't able pick up. , ios apple store app, "cut line" in such situations? trying figure out in advance how it's going work. thanks.

Hard disk problems --- options?

i have macbook pro 7,1 (mid 2010). internal hard disk not functioning properly. system started acting strange , running slow , after diagnostics appears me hard disk... tried reinstall. nope --- not hard disk. have tested drive on macbook pro (works fine). have tried different known working drives , ssd's in internal drive bay. fail in same same manner: i/o error when trying partition drive , ready re-install. not think partitioning actual problem, first time "bad drive" symptom appears.

note, can reinstall , boot system using sd card or external usb drive (partitions without issues , installs & runs osx fine). cannot partition drive place in internal drive bay. can place pre-partitioned & pre-installed drive in bay, said, system runs erratic , slow on internal drive.

have not tried hard disk in optical bay. may try in future see if can make use out of macbook pro.

have no idea why happening.. maybe bad sata controller? bad cable? bad circuit somewhere? ask because want know if known issue or problem other users have seen.

so, has seen problem before?

macbook (mid 2009) had problem last year , happened again. seems apple has bad batch of sata cables in circulation!!
work if plug drive optical bay did mine.
take apple store , let them replace cable. should sort it.

Zeppelin causing app crashes

i installed zeppelin when first version released , carrier logos never worked unsupported carrier. 2 days ago, upgraded 1.0 via cydia , custom carrier logos started working!

facebook stuck in login screen i'm still receiving notifications it, , in tweetbot can load tweets can't compose. dropbox works when reinstalled zeppelin 1.0.

read here previous versions cause app crashes.

possible issue: have siriport working now. i'm not sure whether because have fast connection, or [uninterrupted download] reinstall of it.

 

going safe mode, apps work fine.

more issues:

after disabling zeppelin, notification center still shows custom logo.

carrier has 2 names: carriername3g , carriername2g. when there's no 3g in range, carrier name changes 2g 1 , custom logos disappear.

it depends on widget running. have more one. try disabling widgets, re-enable 1 @ time until find culprit. also, when run activity monitor, it's best change "active processes" "all processes".

Is 700 MB a lot for the "other" section?

i have ipad 2 , iphone 4s. ipad has around 930 megabytes of "other" space taken up. got iphone week ago, , put music , games , mail settings , contacts etc. on it, , have around 700 megabytes of "other" space on iphone (started off 200 megabytes).

how guys have of "other" space?

no sound on iPad, Powerbook

i have 8 year old powerbook g4 , new ipad2. 4 days ago, computer said new version of itunes available. downloaded , installed it. now, have no sound coming computer. earphones: no sound. control panel sound shows(in black) internal speakers: no sound adjustment possible. now, notice ipad not producing sound through speaker or earphones. still beeps. version of itunes is: 10.5.3(3). should revert previous version? how that? thanks!

just wondering if i'm totally in minority on this. had gmail address associated last itunes account , decided when got 4s wanted start clean entirely new itunes account/email (since didn't have purchases associated anyway). when got 4s, let me create .me email address , boom created.

else use primary email? things worry me 1) if .me ever go away , make itunes account stuck in limbo , 2) if i'm going start having worry junkmail since gmail's spam filter freaking awesome

Iphone 4S camera could be better in my opinion

i know there's many apple fans , apple products i'm major camera phone fan. hate normal cameras , i'm going make points on iphone 4s:

*the battery life poor compared iphone 4 problem when shooting video.

*no panorama mode , self timer in iphone camera. third party apps shockingly bad mean interface unnavigable , tacky.

*this big 1 night shots poor try taking night club results not unless take picture close up. there's no proper flash flash light hopeless in 2012. next iphone needs xenon flash must.

*the colours harm compared last iphone.

*images more blurry last iphone.

*facetime cameras little behind skype.

night shots i'm tempted buy old c905. mean compared other camera phones samsung maybe iphone 4s matchable use cybershot se phones best (if don't count video quality). c905 8mp miles better 4s comparison snaps , see.

rather 10mp next iphone or 12mp keep 8mp (we don't need more gain , blur) , wide angle lens, proper camera functionality in ios6 , proper flash camera. maybe can talk iphone being camera..as day camera not bad need better. roll on iphone 5.

 

of course battery life when shooting video going worse on 4s 4. has save twice data battery that's exact same size.

there panorama mode in ios 5, disabled because extremely buggy. feature enabled in future.

iphone 4 had colour balance , saturation, whites turned out yellow , green. i've found colours on 4s better in comparison , par old 3gs' colour abilities.

turn off hdr , have steady hand. images become less blurry.

facetime uses 1/2 of front camera's full vga resolution , less of camera's. when apple enabled full resolution, better.

in all, i'm happy iphone 5g's camera , not upgrade iphone 6g "proper" camera.

need install windows on mac run 1 program need work. have copy (iso image) of windows xp:

---windows xp professional sp3 integrated january (2012) (32 - bit) + sata drivers

, want install using bootcamp. have mac snow leopard, 4 gb ram.

have 3 questions:

1. combination possibile? hear bootcamp won't take windows xp anymore. if so, need copy of windows 7?

2. need burn iso image dvd, using disk utility, right?

long running snow leopard on machine should not problem. snow leopard supports install of winxp through bootcamp.

second recommend use burn burning bootable iso-image

What iTunes files are necessary and which ones can I delete?

over past several years, itunes library has gone through numerous changes. , on years, itunes folder keeps itunes information has become bloated , cluttered files aren't in use anymore.

quick google search yielded no results thought might ask here: files in itunes folder required keep current music library, apps, phone settings, , information stored in songs album, play count, etc.?

i bet there easy fix im yet find yet noticed since ive had 4s
when im on call , text message comes in, message tone of text takes on ear piece, not can not hear other person talking deafens me

please tell me there way stop this?

 

if using headphones have sound play. if using phone without headphones play text tone if phone on loud. need turn phone on silent (vibrate).

i've not seen mention of case, it's not on case-mates web site. when asked why said available resellers. can't find reviews @ thought i'd post pics of 1 got yesterday. they're not amazing pics give interested in case idea of how fits.



fit snug, tiny small amout of lay on table design. have lucky labs decal on of phone there no doubt tiny bit more lay on table not that.



clear plastic (as stated have lucky labs decal on of phone) , camera cut out massive 0 flash issues.







lines well. , it's thin case may work third party docks. have no dock couldn't test. bif cut out headphones no problems whatever headphones may have.



sides made hard polycarbonate , have clear band running through middle show iphones bezel/

in i'm please case. snugg fit, adds minimal bulk feels protect against drops etc. tiny small gripe lip on same size lip lay on table if grab phone without looking end of phone ear. i'm nit picking here.



on think it's case. if little pricey @ £20 ($30).

like many of you, received new ipad on launch day after ordering apple online store , upon turning on noticed 2 dead pixels near centre of screen.

no problem thought, booked genius appointment @ local (ish) apple store request exchange. on day of appointment told after 10 minutes of guy looking @ , making phone calls couldn't exchanged online stock , had exchanged via online store.

i've arranged return refund. right thought items returned / exchanged stores or in us?

My Macbook is Sick!

my 2009 macbook pro (13') sick. it's having problems booting - slow. it's having problems displaying graphics , layouts on web browsers (firefox , safari) i'm getting links , text when using multiple tabs. i'm having restart repeatedly throughout day , when i'm away , screensaver starts takes forever "turn on" or display login screen. ran verify disk disc utilities , got error message:

disk needs repaired. start computer disk (such mac os x installation disc), , use disk utility repair disk.

i'd happy oblige, running os x lion , know, download. not possess installation disc. i'm new forum desperate. use macbook consults clients, etc. , need healthy!

ideas on how fix it? know can installation disc free? folks can give me appreciated.

you don't need disc if use lion. should have automatic recovery mode. start command , r key held down. read apple doc.

my wife driving , ipad in messenger bag in lap. pulling our destination , start hearing radiohead playing faintly. stop , around. pick phone , it's silent. realize music playing ipad. open bag , pull out ipad , it's warm, brightness way down, , music playing. turned brightness , went turn music off kept resuming automatically few times until quit good.

seemed though ipad has never went sleep , running somehow smart cover on... noticed battery not affected.

odd.

 

which radiohead song playing? sounds pretty crucial whatever ipad trying tell you.

did steal ipad, possibly killing or severely injuring in process? karma police playing?

My mov and mp4 movies and tv shows arent syncing to ipad!

tv shows , movies on ipad enabled arent syncing ipad. in either mov or mp4 format , when connect ipad says ipad not support format. way appears on ipad home sharing not in ipad itself. doing wrong? , also, 2 movies in there in m4v format cant put more videos in it.

the same thing happens me when loading home movies ipad2 or iphone4 (actually 5 of 78 did transfer). tried advanced menu option "create ipad or apple tv version) , fails "-118xx" error (don't remember last 2 digits). funny thing same movies work fine on atv2 should not need conversion option.

so reason why want upgrade macbook ipad because of heat develops in such short amount of time usage. i've heard absolute nothing of heat previous 2 ipads, perfect. hear there heating problems ipad 3? true? hope not.

walked local okc apple store @ 8:50 am, hour after special opening, , there no line.

dejected, , assuming sold out, spoke blue shirts @ door, informed me there no problem getting new at&t ipad in either 32 or 64 gig version.

couldn't notice wall-wide stack of ipad boxes along of store @ far end of genius bar. pointing out, setup assistant responded while quite few pre-orders, had no problem availability, @ least present moment.

considering how went last year, seems apple stepped game in making new ipad readily available. or lucky , @ right place @ right time?

did experience sell out @ local apple store?

i had problem itunes match/icloud downloads stalling, , ended restoring ipad. download alone 1.06gb. sizeable increase.
