Automator Freezing!!

i've been mac user years , discovered automator. found such amazing tool built right leopard , decided creative. want set volume, open web page, , hide safari. use automator app create alarm in ical. don't think can more simple that. when create workflow , test it, works perfectly. test 100 times no problems. when save application , try launch it, work maybe once or twice, after freezes! i'm getting frustrated , feeling stupid when should simple!! i've attached pic of workflow. thoughts? advice? help?

i've had similar issue - not why, fixed adding couple of pauses between commands - kinda let things catch up.
purely trial , error on part.
