hi all
firstly in advance this, have used many free programs try , find hidden files filling hardrive nothing obvious being found. have noted space not decreasing dont think running log file although im no means expert!
here's macbook pro saying "about mac/storage tab": -
audio = 17.96 gb
movies = 2.95 gb
photo's = 5.57 gb
apps = 8.25 gb
backups = 301 mb
other = 154.06 gb
storage status follows: - 249 gb drive 60.3 gb free
appreciate need omnidisksweeper show me hidden log files etc have found nothing. away 3 months without tc , thought may have once checking volumes there macintosh hd alias nothing else mounted , nothing obvious regard hidden tc ups
im running mac os x lion 10.7.3 (11d50b) , machine mid 2009 2.53 ghz, 4gb 1067 mhz ddr3

for space issues not explained above, there few things can try, of may or may not apply:
here few resolutions found others same question:
- begin restarting computer first step. resolves issues.
- for time machine users on notebooks running lion, space may being consumed time machine local snapshots, can disabled.
os x lion: time machine's "local snapshots" on portable macs- search finder see if space being consumed large file or several large files. adjust 50gb in illustration whatever size deem appropriate.
- use omnidisksweeper, jdisk report, disk inventory x, daisydisk or grandperspective see how space being used on drive. of these apps may show more detail others, try several.
- check drive disk utility: using disk utility verify or repair disks
- try re-indexing drive: spotlight: how re-index folders or volumes
- encrypted drive
- time machine backup files , needed disk repair
- app filling log file
- app or file 89gb
- drive needed re-indexed
- time machine backup file
- large app cache file
- garageband files , video podcasts
- oversized email being duplicated
- another email issue
