Microsoft diversification

back in 2000, microsoft one-product company - windows. sure had office, mac version tiny % of revenue. point depended on windows.

fast forward 2012 , let's see independent platforms microsoft has:

windows(client, server)

xbox

windows phone(yes need windows pc develop apps, need mac develop ios apps, it's wash i'm talking users)

online - azure, office 365, hotmail, skydrive, zune pass, xbox live, bing, else?

problem windows, xbox bring in profits. wp + online major money losers. online turning around, wp looks dead in water. kudos microsoft trying advance beyond 1-trick pony. google in real trouble unless can figure out how create 2nd strong platform msft did.

 

they don't turn profit office?
