[rant]i tried renting hd movie tonight (tower heist), , not play due hdcp restrictions. ended renting in sd on amazon instead. emailed them , asked refund.
first of all, ridiculous apple using hdcp @ all. has no place on computer, shouldn't exist in itunes.
however, makes me 10x furious using analog display, driven through vga. it's 22" vizio hdtv. ironic part if had mdp-hdmi cable, have played fine, , have worked on normal 23" dell display, connected using dp. apple not put hdcp doesn't belong, botched implementation. hdcp not supposed apply analog monitors, since are, wait, analog. hdcp digital content protection scheme. comcast gets this, output @ 1080i or 720p through analog component, if hdmi port has hdcp, yet apple doesn't seem it.
never rent them again! [/rant]
yeah, happened me once too. it's incredibly frustrating, paying money rent apple won't play on own equipment.
