cannot install .pkg files

dear all,

title suggests cannot install .pkg files. when click on them opens terminal window. know pkg file ok @ runs on friends mac , takes them through installation screen (she has 10.6.8 have 10.7.1). there easy way fix this? default .pkg files open terminal, have no idea installer kept, isn't in /applications/utilities, neither there on friends 10.6.8 mac.

did it? possible that file corrupted?

perhaps can re-download
