Can't create a new Pages document without hearing Whu?

hello all,

use late 2009 imac word processor (a waste know). here's sour rub, while trying create pages document clip art last night, accidentally hit should not have. unable create document, every time hit key, there loud "wha" sound , nothing types. here how new blank "pages look" now. on left hand side blue shaded area , small ruler edging right side of area. above light blue area blank page number 1 inside. before last night, used hit pages , able totally blank, white page type on. please me find blank pages without sound effects , inability type anything. please!

 

can't type on blank page?!?

nobody can me?

unable create new pages document, it's if frozen.

suggestions?
