'No Update' Tweak

with 5.1 looming, necessary install tweak?

prevents ota updates apple.

 

you can or can remove launch daemons ota updates (as other useless launch daemons) , free memory/speed phone well.

first, ssh device , navigate /system/library. find launchdaemons folder , download entire thing desktop. rename folder on desktop "launchdaemons.old" or "launchdaemons.backup" , reupload device without making changes (and keep copy on computer well; can never have many backups). serve our on-device backup, in case goes wrong , can't ssh device or connect via usb. then, make of changes want make .plist files in original launchdaemons folder.

disable daemon, delete or rename extension of plist (com.apple.xxxx.plist -> com.apple.xxxx.bak) disable corresponding .plist file.

these can deleted user, no adverse effects on device.

com.apple.appsupport.cplogd.plist - logs crashes of applications ,
3rd party apple /var/mobile/library/logs, , tells system if
symlink cannot created.
com.apple.apsd.tcpdump.en0.plist - logs push notification errors.
com.apple.apsd.tcpdump.pdp_ip0.plist - believed log push
notification errors.
do not delete com.apple.apsd.plist (without .en0 or .pdp_ip0) make imessage , facetime not work.
com.apple.aslmanager.plist - daemon manages system logs.
[*]com.apple.certui.relay.plist - when on public network (like
school) , safari can't verify website connecting to,
"this website not verified" or that, , asks if want
still continue. feel free delete this.
com.apple.chud.chum.plist - daemon thought relate
apple's chud (computer hardware understanding developer) tools. removing
daemon have no adverse effects on device, unless developer.
com.apple.chud.pilotfish.plist - daemon thought relate
apple's chud tools. removing daemon have no adverse effects on
device, unless developer.
com.apple.crash_mover.plist - moves crash log files
originate /var/mobile/library/logs. feel free remove if don't have
device log crashes.
com.apple.crashhousekeeping.plist - cleans old logs, safe delete
if removing logging software. if regularly run @p0sixninja's crash
reporter jailbreaks, not remove this.
com.apple.dumpbasebandcrash.plist - dumps baseband crashes,
shouldn't happen during normal use. ipod touch users don't have baseband.
if regularly run @p0sixninja's crash reporter jailbreaks, not
remove this.
com.apple.dumppanic.plist - dumps crashes evaluation apple. if
regularly run @p0sixninja's crash reporter jailbreaks, not
remove this.
com.apple.marcoagent.plist - logs crashes related imessage,
facetime , ect. feel free remove idevice.
com.apple.mobile.softwareupdated.plist - deals ota software
updating. feel free remove, jailbroken, can't use anyways.
com.apple.otacrashcopier.plist - moves crashes on air
software updates /var/mobile/library/logs. feel free remove daemon.
com.apple.otataskingagent.plist - tells device periodically
check ota updates. feel free remove.
com.apple.powerlog.plist - used monitor
incompatibilities 3rd party chargers.
com.apple.reportcrash.(different things).plist - there 6 of these
daemons, , collect data caused crash, programs
running @ time, etc. if regularly run @p0sixninja's crash reporter
jailbreaks, not remove this.
com.apple.sharktrace.plist deals developer crash logs, if
aren't developer feel free delete.
com.apple.softwareupdateservicesd.plist - tells ios how start ,
execute ota update, feel free remove. although not attempt ota
update removed. feel stops update happening if
device jailbroken.
com.apple.springboard.setuphelper.plist - starts ios setup app
when device first boots , after restores. remove because it's no longer
needed after initial setup.
com.apple.syslogd.plist - logs system events.


conditional daemons
these daemons can disabled users have no need features of device.

com.apple.accessoryd.plist - if removed, disables accessories fm
radio transmitters, iphone docks, , av cables. accessories able
charge device, able do. remove if
don't use of these accessories.
com.apple.addressbook.plist - if removed, contacts in phone
application load slower. disable if don't care
that.
com.apple.adminlite.plist - daemon tries return control of
device if thinks waiting lengthly process
respond. force-quitting process, if you're tired of
apps crashing , rather wait few seconds them finish
they're doing, disable daemon.
com.apple.aosnotification.plist - daemon deals icloud
syncing. if not use icloud backups, photostream, ect. can
disable this.
com.apple.apsd.plist - if removed, push notifications , imessages
no longer work. disable if don't use push notifications or
imessage.
com.apple.assitivetouchd.plist - starts process
assistivetouch.app (located under accessibility). if don't use this,
feel free remove it.
com.apple.daily.plist - reminds app store check updates
installed applications, remove if want manually
com.apple.dataaccess.dataaccessd.plist - if removed, contacts no
longer sync via exchange or google sync. disable if don't use
services. (this not disable push notifications google voice's app,
push mail service.)
com.apple.datamigrator.plist - used transfer contacts sim card
phone. ipod touch users can delete this.
com.apple.gamed.plist - used gamecenter, remove if don't use
gamecenter.
com.apple.itunescloudd.plist - deals itunes cloud/home sharing.
delete if don't use that.
com.apple.iapd.plist - functions com.apple.accessoryd.plist,
deals accessories come companion apps.
com.apple.mobileinternetsharing.plist - used internet tethering.
disable if have ipod touch or if aren't interested in tethering.
com.apple.mobile.obliteration.plist - daemon wipes data
partition of device. (source) used if remotely wipe
phone via exchange, or if use settings > general > reset, or if set
device wipe after number of failed passcode entries. if
don't use these features, can delete daemon.
com.apple.mobile.profile_janitor.plist - daemon apparently deals
provisioning profiles ad-hoc app distribution. if doesn't apply
you, or if have no idea is, can delete daemon.
com.apple.printd.plist - starts airprint launch daemon process,
remove if don't use airprint.
com.apple.racoon.plist - used virtual private networks. disable
daemon if not use vpns.
com.apple.scrod.plist - daemon deals voice control. if
don't use voice control, can delete daemon.
com.apple.searchd.plist - disables spotlight search if removed.
spotlight page still there, nothing show when start
typing. disable daemon if don't use spotlight.
com.apple.search.appindexer.plist - indexes apps can pop in
spotlight, remove if don't use spotlight.
com.apple.storage_mounter.plist - daemon allows use
"ipad camera connection kit". remove if don't use this.
com.apple.twitterd.plist - starts "tweet youtube, safari,
ect" process. remove if don't use in-app twitter addition.
com.apple.vibrationmanagerd.plist - deals custom vibration
patterns. if don't use or have ipod touchy feel free delete
this.
com.apple.voiced.plist - yet voice control daemon.
com.apple.voiceovertouch.plist - voice control daemon.
com.apple.vsassetd.plist - starts actual voiceservices voice
control. delete if don't use voice control.
com.apple.wapic.plist - logs errors when trying connect wifi
network chinese characters in name. remove if don't live in
china.

leave-alone daemons
these daemons crucial operation of device , should not modified in way.

com.apple.fairplayd.plist - checks drm on legitimately-acquired music , apps.
com.apple.installd.plist - deals app installation.
com.apple.configd+pm.plist - deals system configuration.
com.apple.configd-pm.plist - deals system configuration.
com.apple.gmmd.plist - debugging service device.
com.apple.mdnsresponder.plist - dns. disable this, , internet gone.
com.apple.mdnsresponderhelper.plist - deals dns.
com.apple.usbptpd.plist - allows device connect computer , charge.
com.apple.mtmergeprops.plist - appears have touchscreen. after deleted daemon, screen unresponsive. why make backups!
com.apple.schelper-embedded.plist - appears part of systemconfiguration framework (source), don't recommend deleting it. if brave soul wants try it, go ahead , report back.
com.apple.springboard.plist - daemon ensures springboard launches when turn device on. without daemon, springboard not launch. also, daemon ensures able respring device. if disable daemon , attempt respring, springboard process killed not start again.
com.apple.mobile.lockbot.plist - daemon's function unknown, several users have removed (based on advice; sorry that, guys!) , have had restore result. however, think it's worth noting have removed daemon on first-gen ipod touch , have encountered no problems. time being, however, leave daemon alone.
com.apple.mobile.lockdown.plist - deals sim , network authorization. ipod touch users, though daemon seems deals iphone-only operations, have still had restore after deleting daemon. have removed daemon on first-gen ipod touch , have encountered no problems, apparently i'm 1 has been lucky.
com.apple.itdbprep.plist - when syncing music , videos device daemon called allow usb editing of itunesdatabase (the place information songs , videos have store). not mess daemon.
com.apple.itunesstored - messing daemon cause use 100% of device's cpu periodically. leave alone.
com.apple.mediaserverd.plist - don't know, don't care. screw uikit(your animations, device come laggy , slow) leave 1 alone!!
com.apple.uikit.pasteboard.plist - supposedly deals copy , paste functionality... i've never had experience it. if wants prove me wrong guest
com.apple.hpfd.plist - think has helping install , remove stuff. it's best not touch daemon.
com.apple.cvmscompagent_armv7.plist - deals opengles. if delete you're idevice lag crazy.
com.apple.cvmsserv.plist - deals opengles.
com.apple.powerd.plist - keeps device on. not touch
com.apple.backupd.plist - how itunes knows files on device (otherwise show "other" , not allow sync. not remove daemon.
