i've been watching digital movie collection (mostly .dvdmedia files created ripit along mkv or avi files) connecting hdtv , mba via hdmi mdp cable got monoprice while back.
works fine. don't mirror display. drag video file tv screen, go fullscreen vlc, , works fine.
curious if there way can mirror mba , hdtv displays , play video file on tv without having connect wires between mba , tv. ideally i'd know if stb exists can me achieve this. know of course can atv have no desire encode file play without having attach wires. i'd rather go current route requires no encoding.

i think os x 10.8 mountain lion has airplay mirroring atv. of course, if you're not developer, you'll have wait until summer.
option use hdmi wireless transmitter/recevier device. it's bulky , ugly, there's no wires between mba , tv.
