OK to delete log files?
i have large ".log" files in /private/var/log folder.
kernel.log.1, example, on 2 gb.
i'd set hazel rule delete file in folder ends ".log".
problem want make sure none of these files cached mac os , "expected" there writing.
since found these .log files in directory starts "private", wanted make sure first.
other log directories small comparison.
so, ok remove files ".log" in file name in /private/var/log?
in advance.

yes, can delete logs.
best way be:
- open terminal
- type "sudo periodic daily weekly monthly"
- type "sudo newsyslog -f"
- you can safely delete logs ending in .1 (2,3,4,ect.), .bz2, .gz or .out (as no longer in use)
personal log folder in ~/library/logs can trash without worrying.
