iMac (2010) not booting from usb drives

when opened bootcamp option create windows install disk greyed out. edited plist add model identifier list of supported device. returning bootcamp created usb install disk , partitioned hdd.

imac restarted , loaded windows style screen saying no boot disks found. restarted in os x , went startup disk preferences see install disk didn't show up.

used disk utility add third partition macs hdd use setup disk read article on imac hdd , odd can used install windows. using ccc cloned install disk created partition. didn't work either.

odd isn't working option use usb.

seem remember installing windows onto 2008 macbook usb. why apple have disabled functionality?

i'm not sure, same me on mba. option grayed out. used bootcamp save files need windows 7/8. used disk utility partitioning disk. refit installed, able boot empty windows partition. , 1 again recognized bootable windows dvd , let me install it.

i've written howto on blog, see if get tips there. http://paullabs.com/
